The Verona Marathon, half-marathon and 10km events return on November 17.
A trip to Italy’s city of love could prove perfect for people passionate about running!
Since the year 2000 the city of Verona has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List and in 2017 the Italian National Commission for UNESCO decided to give its patronage to Verona Marathon, considering it runs in the historical centre of the city.
The flat course on paved roads features few curves and the first half also hosts the ZeroWind Cangrande Half Marathon.
The start and finish lines are both in Piazza Bra, the largest piazza in Verona.
This year, organisers have launched the ‘Ladies Running – Smile, Be Cool, Be Marathoner’ project which aims to increase the number of women running a half-marathon or a marathon.
A team of experts, physicians, nutritionists, trainers and a strong wish to succeed will be involved, with 16 women of various ages, jobs, attitudes and experience having been selected. Their common goal is to train together, helping each other to find the right time and motivation, despite daily duties with work, family and children.
Cecilia, Marika, Claudia and their fellow runners will train for the next four months to cut the finish line with enthusiasm and prove to other women that dreams can become reality and even very busy women can find the time to live healthy and fit lives.
