AW reviews the Mizuno Wave Hitogami 3 running shoes

The choice of Olympic triathlon silver medallist and five-time world champion, Javier Noya, the Hitogami already has fast credentials.

The Mizuno Wave Hitogami 3 has the familiar Wave midsole, used here to good effect. Running the width of the shoe’s midsole means the Wave provides a large surface area in which to absorb impact and, just like a real wave, it’s height reduces throughout its length to give a smooth transition into the midfoot.

With a 9mm heel drop the shoe feels familiar enough to move fast in immediately, while having a race-like edge to it.

We loved: Testers liked the rounded edge to the midsole, which one said “gives a nice smooth feel wherever your foot lands or pushes off”, as well as the soft mesh upper that wraps around the foot with a smooth and accommodating fit.
