Indeed, Philipo’s post was a little too close to factual gob. I almost slapped my pc when his post slightly implied Laura ran faster than KH once. I however believe he knows better than that.

That’s the way you see it. I don’t think they’re being arrogant or that they see themselves as chosen ones because they won a race.

  • I was surprised at the quality of the performances, I must say. I didn’t expect such times, clearances and PBs from many of the athletes.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it Philipo, but if you did, it would have been out of character. So no surprise there…

  • Saying that Danny gets on teams because of the misfortune of others is myopic.
Is he the one who doesn’t have misfortunes leading up to a championship? I suspect he’s had his fair share of issues leading up to the Trials but still delivers . He also had not peaked at trials and was able to run so close to NMB, there’s no way he’s not good enough…[Read more]

  • While it may have only been tried at the World Relays once, I remember the Mixed 4 x 400 relay from the Cali 2015 Youth Champs and how exciting it was. These two trials were enough highlights to trial it at the olympics. I suspect it would hardly seem genuinely second rate as some countries will load it more than the men or women relay race.

  • We have a classic case of ‘The pot that calls a kettle black’ right here. When one has a log over his eye, how does he remove the speck in another’s? Hmmm 😉

I think people are underrating AK Simbine. He did place 5th in Rio. He’s been under 10 s about 12 times and first went under 10 s two years ago. I don’t know what makes one the ‘real deal’ like Jeremy asked. I’d like to be told, who is the real deal on the UK scene?

Surprised at R Prescod’s 10.09 coming this early.

Running the same way she did last year–starting in the 11.0s. She however didn’t run as fast this year over the 400 m like last year.
    Possible British record I think

Woah Jeremy’s gone into full blown grumpy trolling mode.

Maybe he’ll like a crack at the PD role for brit athletics as he thinks there’s a need for a good dose of reality check.

    😉

    Regarding Seb Rodger…
If he isn’t selected for Rio, I’d need to wonder why he wasn’t given the opportunity to run at Amsterdam. So far, I have not seen any strong reason why that didn’t happen.

  • Seriously, leave Ellington alone. :D10.12 at trials with 0.3? Wind. 10.11s with 1.8 wind. 10.04s with 1.5m/s.
    He made the final. Check
    He ran a PB. Check
    His most consistent season. Check
He delivered at the oly trials. Check

I’m all for criticism and realistic projections but give a man a break!!!
    :@

  • :good:

If you blame the conditions then how do you explain Jodie’s trial performance where she finished closely to both Dina and Desiree? Remember what happened yesterday during the 200m heats.

  • Well, not all the women who made the Beijing finals ran a 49 last year or have ever run a 49.
Onuora has had a quicker 400 progress than in the 200. At least seemingly so, and was closer to making the final last year in the 400 than she’s ever been in the 200 on that level.

Anyway, I’m glad to see a SB from Delano Williams. The 400 guys…[Read more]

  • hmmm maybe Laura should hit it harder gym wise. Isn’t she still studying at uni? I think she’s doing brilliant with all of what she juggles.
Sovietvest, hehehe, congrats on your 9 wins. I’m doing just fine with 8 wins including a MR.
I wouldn’t write off Jodie Williams just yet or resign her to the 400m.

  • How is Clermont not in the same league as Eugene or La Chaux?? Huh?
Many athletes have also replicated their Eugene and La Chaux times elsewhere. Barbara Pierre 10.85 replicated in London after Eugene same year. Su Bingtian 9.99. Kabange Mupopo 50.22 after 50.86 PB at La Chaux. Patience Okon-George 50.71 after 50.76 at La Chaux.
    La Chaux,…[Read more]

  • I doubt there is any very tempting offer that can be made to Courtney Okolo. Except she decides to switch of her own choice… Vicky Ohuruogu seems to have switched but that isn’t documented anywhere on the IAAF website.
