I echo your sentiments Ursus, the DL has been fantastic this year and it’s supposed to be a down year for most.

Dina’s run was better than Thursdays when you factor in the wind speeds on the 2 runs. She’s ranked 5th best in the world on times but beat two of those ahead of her today, which leaves Hobbs (who benefited from the Eugene effec…[Read more]

Vicault ran 10.00 earlier today, looks like he means business this season

Outstanding efforts from Mitchell-Blake and Z Hughes today in Boston. Millers 150 was a world best I understand, the Boston street meet put ours to shame

The times there always seem abit quick, like La Choux de Fonds

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the latest McLaughlin result, that really was phenomenal

  • I can’t share your optimism Steve about our 400 athletes unfortunately. I think Diamond is as good now as she’ll get. SBD is the best of the current bunch and may get back to 51 mid this year. Who knows maybe she can progress next year. I can’t see either of the Nielsens or the Hyltons progressing significantly, if it was going to happen the signs…[Read more]

MHS ran 44.70 earlier, though it was in Clermont

10.04 into a 0.5 headwind, in the rain, in his first race of the season, I thought that was very impressive. Su was 0.05 behind Coleman in Birmingham and Prescod just beat him, let’s see what happens

An understatement if you don’t mind me saying. We’ve found a fantastic athlete in Prescod, Christian Coleman beware!

Another very entertaining meet, Gardiner and SMU are superb to watch

  • I was referring to Regis’s 200m record as NMB is predominantly a 200m runner

  • I have reservations about Gemini doubling up, he’s been hampered by problems in 2 of the last 3 seasons, so taking on an extra event whilst doing the 200 and relay increases the chances of it happening again. It’s not something he was previously interested in, it’s only since he moved to Reider he contemplated it. I think he’d struggle to make the…[Read more]

Steve, if you search for Sydney McLaughlin on twitter I’m sure you’ll find the video

    Sophie Hitchon threw 73.22

Hudson-Smith with 45.07, he ran a 45.52 at the same point last season

McLaughlin broke the 400h WJR (I should think most of you will be aware), I didn’t pay much mind to her earlier 400 times but I thought she looked very impressive in this race, her running style is very easy on the eye

  • replied to the topic New IAAF Rules on Testosterone in the forum Current events 5 months ago

I’m not well placed to comment on the science behind it but if the IAAF have found that it benefits athletes in other events but decided not to apply the same standards then it looks like they’ve chosen to pursue the 3 with questionable status exclusively. It’s a bit of a can of worms, testosterone levels vary in women so there will likely be…[Read more]

I’m not entirely sure whether the 1990 squad or the 2014 squad was more talented, I’m more interested in which athletes used their success at the European level to spur them on at the international level. The 1990 squad may have done well that year but their success didn’t transfer to the international championships any better than the current…[Read more]

  • ibarnett01, I found myself thinking the same thing on watching the replay, he was perfectly placed on the shoulder of the leader for much of those 2 DL wins, I don’t know why he didn’t go with the pace, it wasn’t suicidally quick. Perhaps the 800 was still in his legs. Langford is relatively inexperienced at this level, one race in Beijing, didn’t…[Read more]

  • It’s the lack of objectivity that bothers me most about this post. He was simply beaten by 3 athletes who were better than him on the day. Was Dina mentally weak when she came 4th last year?

  • Plenty of talk about KJT as usual, she’s on a hiding to nothing if you ask me. I don’t know how someone motivates themselves against a weak field, she’s got 700 points on the entire field l. How would Coleman run against athletes with 10.2/10,3 PBs?

    Excellent run from Doyle
