World record-holders among athletes announced for Diamond League meeting on July 9

Usain Bolt and Renaud Lavillenie are set to return to the Athletissima meeting in Lausanne on July 9, event organisers have announced.

Bolt will be contesting the meeting’s 200m event for the fourth time, the Jamaican sprint star having set the stadium record of 19.58 in 2012 and also claimed victories in 2008 and 2009.

Lavillenie, who won his fourth consecutive European Indoors pole vault title in Prague at the weekend, will be targeting a fifth win at Athletissima after dominating the event in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

Some of Switzerland’s top athletes are also due to compete, with European champion Kariem Hussein set to line up in the 400m hurdles in Lausanne for the second time, while national 100m and 200m record holder Mujinga Kambundji has been named for the longer of the two sprint events.

Last month MEETING AREVA organisers announced Bolt’s planned participation in the 100m at the Paris leg of the Diamond League series on July 4.

The 2015 Diamond League series gets underway in Doha on May 15 and concludes with the two finals in Zurich and Brussels on September 3 and 11 respectively.
