Brooks 10km Champions Run

Registration has opened for the Brooks 10km Champions Run, which will take place on the final day of the 2016 European Championships, European Athletics has announced. The 10km road race will take place on the course which will be used for the European half-marathon.

Funds from the race will go to the Johan Cruyff Foundation, a social partner of the European Athletics Championships 2016.

Wlodarczyk to receive award

Hammer world record-holder Anita Wlodarczyk will receive the main award of the Polish Olympic Committee for 2015. The gala function will be held on January 11. She will get this award for third time after 2009 and 2014.

In the coach category the award will be given to Czeslaw Cybulski, coach of Pawel Fajdek, the male hammer world champion.

De Zordo has sights on Rio

Germany’s 2011 javelin world champion Matthias de Zordo has started the year with the aim to throw at the Olympic Games in Rio. In early January he plans to start his first training section in Kienbaum. He injured his Achilles heavily back in 2013 and could not compete for two years.

Barrett back

Brigetta Barrett missed 2015 due to a hip injury. Now she is back in training with the aim of competing during the indoor season. The Olympic and 2013 world silver high jump medalist’s agent Paul Doyle confirms she will only compete in the USA during the coming winter.

 Eatons set for World Indoors multi events

Both Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton plan to compete in the multi events at the 2016 World Indoors, reports SI.

Eaton had confirmed in early December that he wanted to defend his world indoor heptathlon title. Now, both Eaton and Theisen-Eaton have accepted IAAF invitations to compete at the event, which will be held in Portland.

Eaton said that he will try to break his world record at the championships.

In total 12 athletes will be invited to both the men’s heptathlon and women’s pentathlon.
