Awards ceremony in Lausanne will be screened online as 12 athletes are in contention in four categories
The four winners of the European Athletics “Golden Tracks” athletes of the year awards will be named at a ceremony in Lausanne on Saturday evening.
Twelve athletes have been shortlisted and the winners will be present to pick up their awards after a contest involving votes from fans, media, member federations as well as an expert European Athletics panel, with the results from each group of voters counting for one quarter of the athlete’s final score.
The event will be screened live at european-athletics.org from 8.30pm local time (7.30pm BST).
The athletes in the running are:
Male athlete of the year: Mo Farah, Sergey Shubenkov, Greg Rutherford
Female athlete of the year: Dafne Schippers, Jessica Ennis, Anita Wlodarczyk
Rising star – male: Konrad Bukowiecki, Niklas Kaul, Zharnel Hughes
Rising star – female: Dina Asher-Smith, Alexandra Tavernier, Naomi Zbaren
