A look at some of the performances from the past week, including world record-breaking results by Scottish wheelchair racer Shelby Watson and wins for Thames Valley Harriers and Birchfield in Group B of the European Champion Clubs Cup

It was a busy bank holiday weekend with Mo Farah among the winners at the Prefontaine Classic and Keni Harrison going to No.2 on the 100m hurdles all-time list in Eugene, plus action at the Gotzis Hypo Meeting, the British trials for the European Mountain Running Championships, the BMC Grand Prix in Watford, the Vitality Westminster Mile, the Vitality London 10000 and more.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon, May 29

The third annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon & Half Marathon crowned two defending champions in the men’s and women’s marathons. Robert Pope finished first with a time of 2:27:15 and female winner Joanne Nelson won with a time of 3:00:59.

In the half-marathon, Ethiopian Degene Geziumo was first across the finish line along the River Mersey, while local runner Helen Sahgal won the women’s half-marathon.

Track and field

European Champion Clubs Cup – Group B, Leiria, May 28

British clubs won both of the Group B finals, with Thames Valley Harriers winning the women’s and Birchfield the men’s in Portugal.

IPC Athletics Grand Prix, Nottwil, May 28-29

Record-breakers included Shelby Watson, who set T33 world records from 100m to 800m with times of 19.89 (100m), 35.04 (200m), 1:10.15 (400m) and 2:22.85 (800m) respectively, while T33 Toby Gold, T53 Samantha Kinghorn, T33 Ben Oliver and T34 Isaac Towers set European records.

Hannah Cockroft was also among the winners and she clocked 17.40 in the 100m.

BIG ish Jumps & Throws Fest, Bedford, May 28

Julian Reid leapt a wind-assisted 16.96m in the triple jump.

UK Javelin Carnival, Loughborough, May 29

British record-holder Goldie Sayers threw 57.76m to win the competition in Loughborough.

Flanders Cup, Oordegem, May 28

Jonathan Davies ran a 13:23.94 5000m and Rhys Williams clocked 49.22 in the 400m hurdles over Tom Burton’s 49.81.

Rabah Yousif won the 400m in 45.61 and Alison Leonard clocked 2:00.71 in the 800m.

Jamie Webb ran a PB 1:46.59 to win the 800m.

Scott Lincoln threw 19.59m to win the shot put.

NCAA Championships DI East Preliminaries, Jacksonville, USA, May 28

Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake clocked a windy sub-20 second 200m with 19.96 (+3.6).

NCAA Championships D1 West Preliminaries, Kansas, May 28

Nick Miller threw 76.93m in the hammer.

Weinheim, Germany, May 28

Sosthene Moguenara leapt a world-leading PB of 7.16m (+1.6) in the long jump.

Ashleigh Nelson clocked 11.19 to finish second in the 100m final.
