Galen Rupp runs 3:50.92 in the mile at the Terrier Invitational meeting in Boston
Olympic 10,000m silver medalist Galen Rupp runs 3:50.92 in the mile on Saturday in an attempt to break the American record at the distance at the Terrier Invitational meeting in Boston.
Although it was more than five seconds quicker than he had ever run before, indoors or outdoors, he just missed out on the record which is still held by Bernard Lagat with his 3:49.89. Rupp does become the fifth fastest man ever over the distance indoors, however.
Mile mania continued elsewhere on Saturday, with Tom Farrell running a 3:58.20 PB at the 2013 Razorback Invitational and Jemma Simpson taking first place at the University of Washington Invitational with a 4:37.96 PB.
Mary Cain became the fastest-ever American female high school miler with her world youth indoor best time of 4:32.78 at the New Balance Games in New York.
