Postby jimsmith100 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 9:13 pm

New Olympic Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis is now the golden girl of British sport. We are looking to find the next Jessica Ennis in time for the next Olympics in Brazil 2016. Over the coming months and years this challenge will attempt to uncover potential future champions in the Heptathlon event.

Add your personal bests for each of the events and see where you position against other athletes from all over the world. Update your time / score everytime you improve on a personal best.

The challenge is calculated to give you an overall score - the lower the score the better and the higher you will place on the leaderboard.

Noted that Ennis comments that UKA and the "great" CVC tried to insist that she and Minichiello came down to London to train; what a bunch of busybodying fools and thank goodness they were told to go away and play.

KJT will be 20 next year and an interesting comparison will be able to be made with what Ennis achieved asa 20 year old, re a Hep score and individually. This year already KJT is approx the same overall score that JE achieved at 20, namely 6286. KJT is in advance of JE's efforts in the LJ and 800 m; behind in the Shot; same approx at Jav; way behind in the Hurdles and half a second behind JE in the 200m. True comparison will be end of next season.

In a couple of years, assuming they are both still around, there might not be too much between them.
Having said that , I expected Daphne Schippers to be a bit more of a threat in the summer. That didn't happen.
Its going to be interesting to see how things progress.
