Liu opened with a quick run of 13.09sec to win the hurdles. Felix (11.22) and Montsho (50.52) had decent opening runs to win in their events too.
Two young Japanese athletes continued their strong form: Takayuki Kishimoto beat Johnny Dutch in the 400m hurdles, which backs up his PB run of 48.88sec from last Thursday's Shizuoka Meet. The other young high flier was Roderick Genki Dean. He won the javelin throw with another 80m+ throw, continuing his good form after his 84.28m PB in Hiroshima last week (currently 2nd in the world rankings).
China's Su Bingtian upset Mike Rodgers and Kim Collins to win a windy 100m. With the reading at +2.9 m/s, Su edged the win at the line with a time of 10.04sec. This suggests that the 2011 Asian champion will improve his Chinese record of 10.16sec at some point this year.
Elsewhere on the card, the current 1500m World Indoor bronze medalist Mekonnen Gebremedhin tried his hand at the steeplechase. His 9-minute-long outing for eighth place indicates that he probably won't be trying it again any time soon.
