Poor Devetzi - I thought she deserved it this time. She must have had her best ever indoor competition - indeed, one of her best competitions ever. I did have a feeling Savigne would pull something out of the bag though.

Allan Scott just won his 60mH semi in 7.57 with clear daylight between him and Allen Johnson and Shi Dongpeng.

Actually, the officials came up with a decision that Aleksandra Antonova was 0.001 (!!!!) faster than Claxton, thus taking her place in the final.

Tomlinson couldn't quite get there. I'm really pleased for him though - 4 silver medals so far for Britain!

Scott hit the first one really bad and his momentum was clearly affected thereon, a shame since he's in very good form. Liu wins convincingly but a great BRAVO to Allen Johnson who comes to upset the young and earn a superb silver at 37!

I know - great run by Johnson, but not a bad result for Scott in his first ever major final. There were some very big names in that final.

No way would Liu have won with Robles in the final though. 7.46 would not have got close.

I thought Jenny Meadows run in the 800m semi was superb! She looked so relaxed and in control. Here's hoping for the final.

Congrats also to Richard Hill in his 800m semi - a strong and mature effort.

Good to see Tomlinson over the 8.00m mark.
Jenny Meadows did a 1.59 , again behind Petlyuk. Will she try to get in front of her for the final ?
Liu was just incredible in 60m hurdles , pity Allan Scott could not emulate his semi final run or go faster . He should have got a silver .
Along the same lines Steve Lewis didnt get near his best . I really was hoping GB would have a finalist in the pole vault for the first time in years.

Despite a PB Gemma Simpson disappointed me. Dobriskey and Clitheroe just didnt look right , compared to the other runners in the 3000m.

Bryan Clay in the Heptathlon is in superb form , I wonder if he will break the world record today . Always good to see the mighty Roman Serble .What a brilliant competitor he is.
And finally , heres hoping Philips has a good one today . And I cant wait for the 400m .

Deresse Mekonnen has been reinstated as winner of the men's 1500m following his initial disqualification after the final of the event. So the Spaniards go back to a bronze for the time being!

Personally, I don't mind that much as summer is what matters most for the British team and individuals. Jemma Simpson, James McIlroy and Lisa Dobriskey used overdistance racing and training as part of their build-up towards summer so there are going to be rewards to reap later in the season. Further, you can't expect the whole team to perform to their potential, some will inevitably fare below par.
I was really pleased to see Mike East strong again and I feel there's a great deal more to come in the summer.

Dwain Chambers shows he means business with a blistering equal PB of 6.55 secs in the men's 60m. What are the odds now that he runs away with gold?

Laura Turner ran a SB of 7.28 secs a little earlier but could not follow Kwakyye into the final. It was a good performance, however, considering she hasn't peaked for the indoor season...

I sabre sometimes some of your comments are weird. What do you mean " She hasn't peak for the Indoors". She said as far back as last August that she was running indoors and prepared properly for this by going South Africa.

I know you are a Turner fan ( which you deny)- Just teasing...... thats fine they are all Brits but i remember telling you last year on this site that Kwakyye should be number 1 last year with her 2-1 record over LT and would be the one too watch this year(fantantic sprinting) It was similar to the womens 800m where jenny ran faster than Jemma but cos she didt beat her jemma hence Jenny was ranked lower at the end of the season.

Remember that although Turner ran 11.19 last year she never ran any 11.2's and prior to this year had only gone under 7.30 once. I think JK would push on and if fit i think she would be the pick of the British gals.

As for the men i think DC and SW had a good season. It would have been good for Simeon to have run slightly faster by at the end of the day he made the final and i think that is another bow in his development. Good job to his coach Mr Cowenn.

Congratulation to Tomlinson for his FIRST medal. That should get the monkey off his back. Some people were begining to label him with the choker tag,Really happy for him. I agree the outdoor season is the most important.
However , yes i'm afraid I must put in a however, these championships put some of our athletes in perspective.
McIlroy has not performed in a championships for years .He always shows promise at domestic meets but fails badly after that.
Michael East looks class , and will do well . This year , probably not.

Dobriskey with that running style , I can't see her getting to the top in 1500m ...even 5000 and 10000 she would struggle. Distance and middle distance has moved up a notch. You've got to be able to run under a minute and faster on the last lap.
Clitheroe I applaud her for doing the steeplechase but again she has to be capable of a very fast last lap.

Glad the Ethiopian was reinstated as the 1500m winner. Look closely at the type of runners they produce . Smooth fluent runners with blistering exceleration.

There is a thing that needs to be sorted out here. Just because I'm always trying to maintain what I regard as fairer in every and each case, it doens't mean that I am fan of the one or the other. So there's no case of me being either a Kwakye or a Turner fan, neither am I a Pickering or a Williamson fan as some are trying to pigeonhole me. I like them all, and others, but I have to render unto Caesar that which Caesar's each time.

Second, it has been apparent by Laura Turner's racing schedule that she didn't place the same weight on the indoor season. She came very late in and never looked really sharp.

Third, I'd disagree on Lisa Dobriskey as I reckon she will really make her mark over 1500m come summer. The 3000m is double the distance than her specialty, and she did well to make the final convincingly though there could be a little more.

Oh dear Jenny , you ran that all wrong . It was a suprise Petlyuk let Mutola slow it down . But that was the canny tactic and it worked.
If only Jenny had the confidence not to let that happen.
