Lisa Dobriskey's through as an automatic qualifier in the 3k, though she really needs to buck up her tactics for the next round. You can't get through on the inside in a crowded, slow heat, especially indoors. It won't kill you to run in lane 2 for a bit!

Kelly Sotherton 1st in the 60mH after a huge farce at the start. 71 pts ahead of Blonska who was a distant fourth.

Laura Turner through to the semi-finals in fairly easy qualification - pretty close to Gevaert in 7.3 ish.

Samson Oni sadly out of the high jump - couldn't clear 2.27 - ended up with 2.24 instead.

I don't know about anyone else, but after Osaka, I'm breathing a big sigh of relief as Chris Tomlinson qualifies by right with 7.95 with his first jump!

There is not a big difference in the shot and long jump, based on this years efforts, so far between Hellebaut and Sotherton. So KS will need a phenomenal 800m to get the Gold. A difference of 180 or so points is a big ask even with 3 to go.

Kelly Sotherton has thrown a PB of 14.57m in the shot to slash 48pts off Tia Hellebaut's lead to a 132pts deficit now. Hellebaut also produced a PB of 13.85m.
It will very much decided on the long jump now where something in the region of her PB could see the Briton back into it and hot on the Belgian's heels, with the card up her sleeve the 800m thereon.

Kwakye just equalled Bev Kinch's 1986 60m British record of 7.13 in the semi! And she beat Gevaert!

She looked so smooth! I really believe there's more in the tank.

Yeah, tremendous run by Kwakye, and a big PB by 0.03 secs! If she can keep her head come the final, she's got a big chance there!

By the way, a correction as Sotherton is trailing Hellebaut by 120pts as I see now. All Kelly needs is something round her PB and she will be back into it for good. Go Kelly!!!!

Dwain Chambers shows he means business with a blistering equal PB of 6.55 secs in the men's 60m. What are the odds now that he runs away with gold?

Laura Turner ran a SB of 7.28 secs a little earlier but could not follow Kwakye into the final. It was a good performance, however, considering she hasn't peaked for the indoor season...

As you may know, Kelly landed a 6.45 to close the gap on Hellebaut to a doable 50 pts (3.5 seconds), but Hellebaut jumped a 6.41!

The one thing that's struck me, is not to denigrate the Pentathletes there but I think Ennis or Kluft could have won this competition, Kluft more comfortably for sure.

After his exploits last year I would never, ever write off Simeon Williamson in a final. Fasuba, Rodgers and Chambers do look a class apart from the semis though.

Petlyuk, Mutola, Meadows and Martinez the standouts in the 800m so far.

Congratulations Jeanette, not just for the silver medal but to smash the 60m record of Bev Kinch. It was a privilege to watch her, especially as I had only just switched over from watching the weigh-in for the battle of britain fight.

As for the men's race, my money is on Fasuba he equalled his season's best when easing down so there is plenty in the tank. DC might medal, but it is a testament of his character that he has made the finals in a pb as his last day of competition was the UK trails. Simeone cannot be written off - if he can run in a straight line.

I would also like to give a huge thumbs up to the BBC for giving those who have interactive tv a complete day's competition, just shame they had to bring Ms Irving out at 1930.

I don't agree that Jessica Ennis would beat Sotherton - Kluft would have won though.
