UKA has today announced that Ian Burns has been provisionally suspended from all competition after being charged with having committed anti-doping rule violations.
The provisional suspension, issued by UK Anti-Doping, came in to effect on 19th May 2012 and relates to the possession and use of a number of prohibited substances.
The athlete now has the opportunity to respond to the charge against him, including the right to a full hearing of the case.
UK Anti-Doping is an independent body responsible for all anti-doping programmes and the management of violations and disciplinary issues in the UK. UK Anti-Doping is fully supported by the rules of the IAAF and of UKA.

Ian Burns has a best in the javelin of 69m but last year only threw 55m. The statement says possession of prohibited substances so perhaps this was not a regular doping test?
