Although the BBCi coverage was a lot better for athletics enthusiasts it does not reach the wider public who maybe have a casual or general interest in many sports including athletics. There has to be a balance between this type of coverage and the more conventional terrestrial television coverage in order to promote our sport and attract sponsors. I do hope that the BBC learn and show a little more athletics and less chat when covering our sport on the main channels.

The previous WR was 3:58.05, set this year by Soboleva. She was the only one who dipped under that mark in Valencia, but to have four under four minutes is very impressive and has never been achieved before indoors.

Actually, I saw that remark in a certain report but amid Idowu's frenzy I totally left Soboleva's previous world record mark behind me!

I would agree with Bevone. I myself would look somewhere between six to eight medals in Beijing.

That would be brilliant but I think 4-5 is more realistic and would certainly suffice!

Something like 6 medals is definitely realistic, 4 would not be sufficient. Time to set and pursue challenging standards.
