3rd Annual UK Javelin Carnival - 8th/ 9th September 2012

Postby UK Jav Association » Thu Aug 23, 2012 11:39 am

Hi all

The closing date for online entries for the UK Javelin Carnival is Friday 24th August 2012. Entries will be taken on the day also, but at an increased cost. All information regarding the event can be found by clicking on the following link

http://carnival.ukjav.com/

We hope to see as many Javelin throwers there as possible for what should be a fantastic weekend of Javelin Throwing at the mecca of British Javelin Throwing: Bedford International Athletics Stadium.

Prize money and Nordic Javelins are on offer for the winners of all Carnival events

Cheers

What happened to Javelin Sam's jav fest - Sam are you out there? What happened to your one - did you pack it in? The reason I ask is because Sam send to run these and some were at Bedford I recall. Or have you rebranded it?

Nigel, as you well know the Jav fest which Sam used to run unfortunately ceased and so did effectively his website. The UKJA have taken on a few of those early, good ideas, and moved things on somewhat. Having a javelin comp for all ages, run over 2 days with £5000 of prize money and free javelins to winners, is pretty good. Far better even than what UKA do.

The Association has a fair way to go yet, but it is trying to ensure longevity and offering opportunity for javelin throwers. That can't be a bad thing.

Actually I had forgotten what happened and thought the jumps and throws fest had taken over - I should have PM'ed Sam and asked him as on hindsight it looks like I am making some sort of statement - which I am not. I know of someone who would possibly like to throw at that venue.

Nigel, no snags. Just get the athlete to enter via the website for ease. Entries on the day are accepted as well.

Should be a good competition

Results for this meeting are now available via the following link;

http://www.thepowerof10.info/results/re ... ngid=66846

Senior results will follow later on. The winner were Lee Doran with 76.28m and Izzy Jeffs with 52.51m. There were plenty of personal bests at this end of season meeting and great weather ensure that everyone connected with this event had a great time. The highlight of the weekend was surely the UK record in the U13 girls event of 38.11m by Alisha Levy. It was great to see so many young throwers present. Hope that the future of British Javelin Throwing is in safe hands

Cheers

Well done to primarily David and Clifton for organising such a fantastic weekend. A real credit to the event and a good boost to the UKJA.
