Stockholm Diamond League, 17.8.12

Postby sidelined » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:20 pm

Provisional start lists are here:

http://www.diamondleague-stockholm.com/ ... /Overview/

Brits in action include Holly Bleasdale, Andrew Steele, Muktar Mohammed (in the B race), Lisa D and Laura Weightman, Shara Proctor, TBO, Jack Green and Rhys Williams, Barbara Parker, and Adam Gemili. There are a lot of very strong fields, as you'd expect.

I expect some flat performances from tired/ heartbroken athletes. Think Helsinki after the British trials.

However I'm looking forward to seeing life go on post olympics.

I see Jack Green has now disappeared from the start list.

The BBC are covering this on the red button from 7 - 9 p.m. That means no pundits, but it's a shame that just after the Olympics the sport doesn't have a high enough profile to get on a mainstream channel.

A lack of Brits performing tongight, Jack Green pulled out as did Lisa D. Holly not getting much attention on screen. Looking forward to seeing Gemilli run though, chance of sub 10 one of these days.

Brimingham shaping up to be a much better meet.

I think he could do something pretty special in the 200m at Birmingham. His start's never too solid, but his back-end is incredible. Remember, hi PB is 20.61 into a headwind. I'm hoping for 20.4.

Was that TBO ahead of SRR at 200m  Is she running a 200m before the end of the season?

TBO went out HARD  didn't quite work out - 50.77 for third behind Sanya and Montsho

Proctor 4th in long jump with 6.68

Everyone's favourite Algerian MD runner on track

Note no Nick Symmonds - wonder if the meet director here also has an issue with him

I'd love to see the 200m split times of that women's 400m - the Russian girl on the outside who normally goes off like a train decided to go easy in the first half tonight (and was finishing quite fast), while SRR went off slowly and TBO faster than usual up to 200 (she didn't have the courage to keep pressing from 200-300, though - admittedly it could have ended in 52sec disaster if she had, but still...)

Montsho must be gutted to have missed out in London - she's always up there the rest of the time.
