It is being reported that it's likely Paula will pull out. assume Freya Murray is the reserve and can be called up although I doubt she is fully prepared for a marathon?

Nothing official yet but will know tomorrow.

Paula Radcliffe will be forced to make the heartbreaking decision this week to withdraw from the London Olympics.

The 38-year-old world record holder, for so long the golden girl of British athletics, will finally give up the battle to get her battered body to the start of the women’s marathon on The Mall next Sunday.

Radcliffe has been struggling for fitness since a degenerative foot injury flared up again three weeks ago. But now, according to sources close to both the athlete’s camp and to UK Athletics, her battle is over. ‘The time to make a decision has arrived and there’s only one decision to make,’ said the source. ‘Paula is not fit to run at the moment. There will be an announcement in the next day or two.’

UKA confirm Paula is being withdrawn and it looks like Freya Murray will take her place. Sad news and surely it must be the end of her running career at World level.

Freya Murray has now been officially confimed as Paula's replacement in the marathon. I assume she has trained as much as possible for this eventuality and been kept informed regarding Paula's injury. Hope she runs well.

Olympics athletics: Eilish McColgan fit for 3,000m after car accident
Great Britain's Eilish McColgan will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Olympics despite being hit by a car on her final training run.

McColgan was training in Portugal on Wednesday when she was struck by a glancing blow on her left hand side, causing her to fall onto the bonnet.

The 21-year-old Scot was not badly hurt and ran two miles to the team hotel.

Seems like she'll be ok but perhaps a little stiff. May still affect her though.
