Possibly, we saw a discus competition from a circle with no cage! Probably all in accordance with IAAF rules and approved by the Swedish Athletics Federation but certainly would not have been allowed in this country. This follows on from the hammer competitions with no gates. The first video also shows the sector to be marked out at right angles to the orientation of the two circles, possibly for the benefit of a more favourable wind. Of course, none of this would have been permitted in the UK and, indeed, a competition such as the one in Hendon last weekend where Uduchuku threw 61m would not have been allowed as a qualifying performance (if someone had thrown the distance).

No doubt about the distances thrown but I was also wondering why Morse is not throwing as well as last year. What has changed, if anything, in his technique. Is he trying to be too quick across the circle or will it come good in time?

At Copthall today, an excellent Discus competition. Abdul Buhari won with 65.24, followed by Brett Morse 64.46 and Zane Duquemin 63.40 ish. Chris Tomlinson 7.94 in Long Jump.

Another useful throw came from Eden Francis with 17.10 in the shot.

Devonish got the B standard (20.64, +0.1) in the 200 in Switzerland today,
as well as a SB in the 100 (10.32, +0.1).

If he's got a race lined up tomorrow he could easily get the A.

In addition to the marks already mentioned, Annabelle Lewis won the 100m and equalled the 11.51 PB she set in Birmingham at the trials

The other interesting result from there is Emily Diamond running another sub-53 second 400m. This appears to be her first season over the distance and if she can take another second off by next summer we could be looking at a solid 4x400m relay fixture for years to come (and if she can take 2 seconds, happy days).

Unfortunately that's a mark against him. He was fairly similar in qualification in Daegu last year.

58.57 on Thursday, 65+ on Saturday.

Zharnel Hughes of Anguilla set a new PB and NR in the heats of the CAC Junior Championships in El Salvador with a run of 10.42 (+1.1) then won silver behind Minzie of Jamaica in the final with 10.46 (-0.5) yesterday.
Still 16 for another fortnight - good bet for final at World Juniors and a place on the British team for the 2016 Olympics.

Carl Myerscough threw a second B standard of the year at a meeting in Estonia with 20.13. This should be enough to gain selection for London.

Just noticed that Alex Smith got a second current B standard at Hendon in the hammer. This should secure his place in London having also won the trials. Mark Dry has more B standards but the criteria only ask for two and he was beaten in Birmingham. Of course, they may decide not to send anyone!
