Things do seem a bit messy passport-wise. He entered the Nairobi Half Marathon as Dennis Kipruto Koech, then his passport says he is Dennis Kipruto Kimelli, and now he claims to be called Dennis Kipruto Kimetto.

Call me a cynic, but his claimed birthdate of 22/01/1994 is just two alterations away from the previously known date of 22/04/1984. This doesn't look like a 17-year-old boy. He won half marathons in Nairobi, Ndakaini and Eldama Ravine in 2011, yet no one mentioned he was a young teenager then. Saying that, a Dennis Kipruto came fifth at the junior Africa XC in 2011. Confusing...

I'll ignore the DOB and just focus on what was a great world record run regardless!
