Postby b-athletics » Fri May 04, 2012 5:25 pm

In the past few years womens sprinting has been at it's lowest, however, I do think that this year there could be a resurgence within women's sprinting. Now I was wondering who everyone though would qualify for this years Olympics and for the Europeans in Helsinki.

b-athletics, welcome to the forum. If you look at UKA's selection policy for the Euros you'll see the situation isn't straightforward, because entries have to be in for the Euros before the Olympic Trials. So the Euros can't be used as a consolation prize. Three athletes plus two reserves can be nominated. If the top two at the trials have the Olympic A standard they'll be withdrawn from track events at the Euros. But UKA want to use the Euro 4 x 100 as a rehearsal for London. Since a relay team has to include the three athletes nominated for the individual 100, it seems possible that no one will run the individual 100 in Helsinki... ... -policies/
