Nine athletes who have won a total of 26 World Championships medals have been added to the field for the adidas Grand Prix on June 9, organizers have announced.

Among them are Jenny Simpson, the reigning women’s 1500-meter World Champion; Matthew Centrowitz, Bernard Lagat, and Leo Manzano, the top three American men at the distance; and a pair of Jamaican athletes who posted huge wins last weekend.

I'm not quite sure what I am actually looking forward to with this year's league, is it the match ups or an assault on precinct world record. I do hope that the UK's best athletes get more opportunities to compete than in previous seasons.

Americans Jenn Suhr and Chaunte Lowe will find plenty of high class international competition to match their own impressive talents respectively in the Pole Vault and High Jump at the 38th Prefontaine Classic - Samsung Diamond League meeting at Hayward Field on 2 June.
http://iaaf.org/competitions/dlm/news/newsid=64839.html

Liu Xiang will defend his Shanghai Diamond League 110m Hurdles crown on 19 May, taking on Daegu World Championship gold medallist Jason Richardson of the USA. One of many classy line-ups for the second leg of the 2012 Samsung Diamond League series.

Obviously wants a low key return but needs to fulfil the demands of his sponsor at the same time, would be my guess - he'd probably be better off just finding a small meet where he could race quietly, but I assume he wants some proper competition

On the positive side, he must be confident that he can run a decent time to put himself out there

This is an interesting development as Gay himself said earlier this year that his opener would be the US trials. Perhaps Gatlin has him spooked.

Does anybody know if Baddeley is planning on a Diamond League performance, his 3000m gave e some hope that he may be physically right, but I still feel he is lacking tactically.

A good question to generalise out - loads more Brits on the circuit this year, and not just funded ones. Down to better agents or is there more of a desire to get them racing?
