broadsword wrote:So everyone named Kima should change there name if they are on any forum you are on...I do not think so! The opinion of one = 0

well if the opinion of one means nothing, then I'm sure we can get about 30 or more runners on here to post that Gaz's name should be reinstated.

Surely every name in the world must have some such tenuous link? There is a difference between a single name and a name quoted with a specific link. And what you still fail to realise is that the specific link is with a song by the sex pistols. Have you campaigned for the song to be banned as well,...

but just because it is the name of several companies, and a race does not make it any less offensive. Or is it only the holocaust which is considered important, all other attrocities can be forgotten about?

Yes I agree, it probably is for the best to save any misunderstanding. Incidentally Kima was the name of a particularily brutal guard my Grandad mentioned when he was held as a prisoner of the Japanese during the second world war. I realise you probably didn't intend it, but that name is offensive t...

While I would agree that the Holocaust should not be demeaned I think some of you are showing your ignorance in your outrage. Belson was a gas is actually the name of a song by the Sex Pistols.

You idealise her, because not once in this thread have you admitted she has weaknesses. As I said from my perspective, it would appear she is weak at hills and in the heat. If her weakness is not hills, and the heat, then what is it (apart from maybe that she has to race from the front all the time)...

No, I'm saying she has never ran on real hills. In my opinion. Anyway lets not get carried away. As I was saying, from what I have seen, she appears to be weak on hot and hilly courses. Athens showed that (but for some reason we're not allowed to count that). From what you've seen, she is not weak o...

So she has ran the fells then? They're where you see real hills, not on the roads.

When (discounting Athens for obvious reasons) has Paula ever performed on a hill course, let alone well?

Pegleg, maybe your defenition of what constitutes a hill is slightly different from what most of us would call a hill? What disciplines do you do?

Re: Too much to soon

How many times have we seen very good young talents vanish when they hit their teens/in their 20's!! I believe the likes of Emily pigeon are being pushed too soon. Maybe 1 in 10000 british youngsters will make it like Paula, but compared to how many are in the sport and how many are good its very l...

That's also very true. I saw your post, and it made me laugh. The sad thing is, there are some people out there who do actually think like that.

Well personally I have a heck of a lot of respect for Paula (as I do for all athletes) and what she's achieved, and know that she would kick my @rse in a race 99.99% of the time. I hope no-one thinks my comments are actually aimed at doing her down. What does annoy me (as with all celebrities) is th...

hes from your neck of the woods isnt he allanT? Yep, he's a sound bloke. I used to go to college with him and know him fairly well. Definitely deserved his victory, here's to many more. Looking at his picture in the local paper, he looked really relaxed on the day, as if he was going for a recovery...

she is a wet lettuce she could have used it as a training run and still beat eveyone Unless Keith Gerrard and Adam Hickey were running, in which case she'd have to settle for third place, and be a minute behind the winner. And Keith wasn't exactly feeling great on that day from what I've heard.

Hmm no mention of Keith Gerrard here. Not to worry, Paula's already noticed him.

Track athletes - overrated

I notice a lot of media attention is focussed on Field + Track events, and some people seem to be under the misaprehension that somehow the elite of these disciplines are better than other less publicised disciplines. I personally think this should not be the case, and people should realise that jus...
