Come on Andy Robinson - badly treated not to be selected for the Commonwealth Games; I hope he proves a point this summer.

The Coach magazine.

Right, first off, this is a first rate publication - no argument. BUT, I see in the latest issue that it's going from bi-monthly (6 issues a year) to "seasonal" (4 issues a year), now, if I've got that right, as a subscriber I'm missing out on 2 issues a year - And all for the same cost. BARGAIN! I...

Yeah Right Stan. Trouble is, you can only do that once, and nobody respects you 'cause it's a con artist tactic. I'll tell you what to do Dons - Read R.Hill's autobiography, that'll inspire a Lancs boy to train more. Train more and success'll come -this'll breed a lust in you for beating lazy jogger...

I voted "Other" as my preference is for The Coach. There's always something inspirational or informative, pragmatic and eminently usable in it. I spend more time reading online though. Dare I mention letsrun.com here? Speaking of wiping botties, I've been caught short twice whilst training this past...

Caffeinne

Ah, now caffeine. I tried this a few weeks ago. Having been inspired by a post on Letsrun.com I loaded up on Pro Plus tablets at a recent cross country relay race. Swallowed 45 minutes before the gun, I took 8 x 50mg tablets. The dose is calculated on your body weight. On the pack it says "Do not ex...

Mileage

Was your marathon a success?
Was it a local race for local people?

What do you think of twice a day vs. once a day, in terms of fitness gained and also recovery and cumulative tiredness?

Mileage

Averaging over 10 mies a day over trhat length of time is impressive. I'm whacking 62 mpw at the mo'. I like that number as I can say 100K and I like the sound it makes. Am aiming to incre mentally heave that up to 80 this winter. I'm only aiming for 10K and some 1500 / 3000 / 5000 on the track next...

I eat whatever i want ! Lots of mars bars and lots of GRAVY!!!!! Thats what an athletes diet should be like! Yeah? Mars bars AND gravy? Together? I eat my dinner and tend to leave the gravy, but I'm willing to try it, in the interests of science and my personal athletic development. I can't see gra...

The Chichester 10K wasn't any kind of championship event last year, just a decent local road race so probably won in (guessing) about 31, shade under maybe. I'd certianly expect the course records of 29'37 and 33'43 to be beaten next time though, as it's the national champs. £200 prize for the cours...

I'm sorry, the race you're discussing must have passed me by unnoticed. Any of you Northern Gravy Suckers coming down to the sunny south coast next February 5th to compete in OUR local 10K road race? The Chichester 10K is the Sussex county championships AND the England 10K champs. It's a pretty fast...

Here's why: Spring, 1999 issue of Athletics Weekly, page 30, entitled "Running With Steve." "The winter prior to the Moscow Olympics (1980) we ran an average of 100 miles/week (160km) for over 20 weeks, with some weeks at 110-120 miles/week. Steve wanted this winter to be the best possible he could ...

Get a decent jounalist to do the interviews and reporting, not an ex-athlete.

I was sorry to see Roger Black go.
Was it a case of always 2nd to MJ in his running career, then really got the hump (rightly) when the BBC bought MJ in and gave him the Daddy's role in the talking shop.
