Are you implying that all Italians are white? (I know you're probably not but that is the way it sounds to me) This gets back to my original point, "how do you define white?", as far as i can tell it is an indicator of pigmentation ONLY. What of those "whites" that tan easily? Are they really white...

"White" is almost meaningless from a genetic perspective (as is Irish from a colour perspective). USATF indoors is a poor seventh cousin to USATF outdoors. There's little incentive to get in shape that early or risk injury. Euro indoors may still be a happening thing, but over here it's dying out.
