Re: One down.......Positive tests!

It's from the 2005 World Championship - goodbye gold medal. The IAAF apparently were retesting samples from 7 years ago. Oh dear, what a pity, never mind. :-) But Lysenko gets promoted to silver now. I was looking through the Russian women's throwing team in Athens and I believe there have b...

What a shame the adorable Binnaz Uslu isn't competing.

But some of their better runners are in the under-23 race, such as Tugba Karakaya (4:03 1500m PB).

Re: European Cross-Country Championships 2012

This lack of interest by major athletic nations clearly dilutes its value as a premier event. How long can it be justified as such? Now a second division item. I'm not sure I'd say it's ever been a premier event and hardly any of the leading Europeans have competed in it every year. I mean, just go...

She pulled out citing fatigue after a long season but since then, she said she's reconsidering so it sounds like there will be a place for her if she changes her mind.

Re: w1500m at London 2012 Olympics

Alas, the 1500m from the 2006 European Champs is even worse. 1. Tomashova - nuff said 2. Chizhenko - ditto 3. Yordanova - busted before Beijing 4. Soboleva - 5. Chojecka - first clean athlete. 6. Dumbravean - tested not once, but twice 7. Tobias - busted this year 8. Lishchynska - shares the ...

Re: Post Event Interviews

The worst post-race interviewer has to be Maurice Greene on ES. I don't know why he has to put on a stoopid voice whenever he asks a question. He brings absolutely no value to the coverage at all. I haven't watched any of the mainstream coverage - Olympic channels all the way - but he (Inverd...

Re: w1500m at London 2012 Olympics

I think we're all missing the biggest factor of all - Lisa learnt tactics :D :D Let's just hope it's not a one-off and she won't be stuck somewhere at the back and on the inside when the break comes in the final a la Beijing! I don't think the final will be particularly quick. Tomashova will probab...

Re: UK Women's 800m

Well done to Lynsey and for the GB selectors to support a Scottish athlete for a change! Now UKA, get Lynsey into the Diamond League 800m at Paris on Friday to allow her to get under 2 mins. There isn't an 800m in Paris (except for a pre-meet race for locals) but from what I gather, there is an 800...

Re: GB London Olympic Team

Apparently McConnell was selected because there's some loophole whereby an athlete on the 4x400m team can gain individual selection even if they don't have two As. :?

Re: GB London Olympic Team

I really don't understand what McConnell has done to merit individual selection while someone like Danny Talbot is missing out on a place on the 200m despite being on the 4x100m team. She's only achieved one A standard (I think) and that was a year ago.

Re: UK Women's 800m

Not only did Okoro run stupidly tactically, I really don't think she's in much better shape than her current season's best. 27/57 was an irrational tactic but even so, it's not stupidly suicidal and you would have thought she would have held on a bit better instead of slowing to a 67 after a 57. I'd...

Re: UK Championships & Trials

Greene and Green navigated their way through the 400mH. Woodward has a few problems with the final hurdle. Didn't it pretty much cost him the Euro U23 title last year too?

Bleasdale's result.

Pleased to see Twell claim the A standard too although 15:20 has to be one of the weakest entry-standards.

Early outdoor 2012 results

Just noticed Lorraine Ugen set a marginally wind-aided 6.83m performance in the USA although she didn't jump again after that. Will be interesting to see if she can back this up.

Re: WIC Istanbul 2012 Day 1 Chat

If Jess equals her LJ season's best of 6.47m and equals her 800 indoor PB of 2:12, she'll score 4989 which is just 2pts outside the WR. She might lose a few cm in the long jump but I'm sure she can go much faster than her indoor PB of 2:12.55.

Must say the Belarussian kit is confusing me. It looks more like the Moroccan kit (hence why I confused Akkaoui and Arzamasava in the 800m!)

Poor Maz. :( Clipped by Megiso and then stumbles on the curb when the Belorussian went past her. I don't really have much sympathy. On the slo-mo, she didn't seem to come off as bad and it's not the first time she's run a brainless race. She didn't have to win the race and seeing as four athletes c...
