Re: How the cuts will affect sport

Answer to the golf - could it be that a person involved in the development actually was a golfer? Right, since we have pumped many millions into the youth sports trust and schools partnerships the actual number of students taking part in active competitive sport either inside of school or against ot...

Re: How the cuts will affect sport

If we rely on the SSP to give our students 2 hours of PE per week what do the PE department do? I have worked for and alongside a number of these partnerships and to be honest the best pe came from the pe departments. I am going into a school to coach this afternoon at an after school club paid for ...

Re: How the cuts will affect sport

I am now going to have a cup of tea with a large crusty bacon sandwich and read the green paper issued by the government on spending reform, I love good news and a good breakfast.

Re: How the cuts will affect sport

"3,000 school sport managers, 450 development managers, 225 competition managers and 370 coordinators in further education establishments jobs are at immediate risk" Now that is great news, see I told you that some good could come out of it, if you only looked. Why should my club receive f...

Re: How the cuts will affect sport

The question posed is how will the cuts effect our sport or sport in general? Most of the sport see it as a bad decision and now we are getting comments such as we wont get the world champs because the government wont support it. But let us se if there is a positive side to all of this. The announce...

I agree with the Malcolm Fenton appointment he is going to make a success of it. I have worked with him on regionals and the Welsh programs where he has led on Hammer and me on discus and apart from selling me half his stock of videos and equipment I have learnt an awful lot from him on S and C and ...

I actually mentor within industry and some students who require it and have done for many years, trained etc. I dont think many people actually understand what is mentoring and how to apply it in a realistic way. If you are just to act as a teacher teaching a coach how to coach then that is not ment...

Problem with only catering within a university arena is that you can miss so many potentially good athletes that you end up in the same situation.

We have lots to offer them, but we do not market ourselves that well. One female said atheltics is boring and run by grumpy people, it's like being at school. good level of coaching in schools, colleges and Universities would be a great move forward. Have the leagues and some of the clubs not worked...

There are some very good throws coaches around the uk in all disciplines and a number of youngsters coming through. However all our youngsters now have the opportunity to do so many more sports and past times and without the promotion we often lose out. Marketing is one of the sports weak points. Sh...

Tim was a person that on a number of occassions took the trouble to contact me regarding some of my views on the development of sport, this was regardless of whether he agreed with me or did not. First of all I use my own name purely because I believe in what I say. The question of the payments made to coaches has to be between the coach, the club and the athlete. Expecting the NGB to pay is absolute madness and the proposal by James is badly though out and flawed in too many areas to be of ...

One or two of you seem surprised that the world champion and olymic champion does running training. His program is 6 x 300 (he did it to show runners that throwers can run as well) he also does 200's 100's and 60's. His fitness regime is awsome. Sub ten you say that you see no reason for him to do t...

I will only make one small point a number of people that watched question of sport were amazed that one of our athletes did not know who Mara Yamuchi was!

She did say she saw her wandering around the village!

Was this a management fault!
