When I saw this advertised I wondered whether or not AW would continue to give over space to De Vos & Warner each week to publicise their "successes" at UKA. Now that UKA is effectively part of a conglomeration which will compete with AW will anyone want UKA to have direct contact with...

I don't agree with everything the UKA say or do, but i do know that the number 1 aim there is to try to improve athletics in every way shape and form they possibly can, in their own way. I think your last point about them improving athletics "in their own way" is one of the big problems w...

Gym Jim Welcome to the BigGut Soapbox. As he himself so succinctly puts it. The way I write does not suggest that I know anything  But it never stops him telling the world and all in it that UKA must be treated with the same awe and reverence usually reserved for deities by extreme funda...

"Whether or not that allegation was proven, and thank god it wasn't"

So although you admit in the other cases nothing was proven you still back UKA sending letters to virtually anyone they could think of ?

Perhaps I am little confused by this then. I was under the impression that David Farrow was found guilty of "abusing his position of trust" as a result of a relationship with an athlete that he was coaching. Storey is now coaching an athlete with whom he has possibly had a similar relation...

But all those letters were not just sent to clubs a lot of other people received them.

As this thread starts off on the premise that he has been sacked I think it is safe to assume that he has fallen foul of UKA rules, so someone has a complaint against him.

I think she lost because so few people in GB have much respect for the way that she has conducted herself throughout the last few years. Her result, less than 4500 votes, was the worst ever in the SPOTY. It is not just the general public who did not vote for her, clearly very few athletes or athleti...

I think the reason DF has been named is because Storey was so involved in that case including the sending out of so many letters and not just to UKA athletics clubs.

This a situation in which a person responsible for team selection has an involvement with an athlete hoping for selection.

It does not strike me as very healthy state of affairs.

It sounds similar to the sort of complaints coming from up north.

UKA consistency

I wonder whether thousand s of us will be receiving a letter warning us to keep away from Storey, as we were with Farrow. Perhaps the EA representative from Yorkshire should also be included in the same letter. I see the notice about Simon Richardson has disappeared from the Yorkshire & Humbersi...

Re: Ohuruogo

Have you actually listened to any of her recent interviews? People keep saying that she hasn't 'apologised' As the saying goes sorry seems to be the hardest worry, she has never accepted that the sporting public in the UK suspect her of being a drugs cheat because of her own behaviour. Perhaps next...

Ohuruogo

The reaction of the general public towards her is understable given her behaviour throughout this episode. She has done herself no favours with her attitude. She has still not made the effort to apologise for failing to fit in with in the drug testing procedure. Listening to her talk it sounds as th...

As 2008 is an Olympic year maybe Christine O should not be getting paid for the year as she has made herself unavailable for selection for the most important event.

Collins will have to put forward his predictions to Sport England to get his money. You can bet that he will set that target as low as he can get away with. He went into the last European Cup with the target of not finishing last. The post event TV interview was possibly the worst thing we have yet ...

Probably something similar to her run in the indoor final last winter.

New Set Up for running clubs

http://athleticsdaily.proboards104.com/ ... 1171514684

Now that we are likely to have a proper alternative for running clubs to staying with the T&F focussed UKA, I wonder whether competion organisers will embrace ARC fully.

Well, orienteering is a running discipline that has always existed outside the rest of the athletics setup. Fell running and road running could quite happily exist without UKA support. But many road running/jogging clubs participate in cross country as well so why not the rest of distance running g...
