Re: Lausanne

Very sad not to see Charlene - she would have won that I'm certain and posted an 'A' qualifier. Let's all get behind her for her next shot at an 'A' whenever that is - the sport needs someone like that in the UK - gutsy and bursting with personality - such a refreshing change. Probably the hardest ...

AW World Athletics Final News Report

The comment function for the article is not working so I thought I would leave my comment here. In the 1500m, Lisa Dobriskey did not cover the break and the world silver medallist couldn’t do any better than eighth but Hannah England, controversially not chosen for the World Championships had a terr...

No she wouldn't.

She has overcome every hurdle put in her way, making it impossible not to select her. Her run at the trials was phenomenol. The performances of Twell and England since only make it more so.

She deserves her place and might surprise a few people (again) in Berlin!

It is possible Lsabre that you have read the section relating to marathon and walks? Which does allow any A standard in the IAAF qual period to be taken into consideration in Round 2.

For all other events an A standard since April 1st is required for round 2.

Well in the selection criteria 'current' is clearly identified as from April 1st 2009 to the 26th July 2009.

Geoff, while Round 1 gains priority as guaranteeing automatic selection I don't reckon that Rounds 2 and 3 define necessarily order of selection but more of eligibility of athletes for each event. Further, I'd like to complement that Lisa Dobriskey is also considered under Round 2 as having finishe...

Unfortunately the best three to go would be Dobriskey England and Twell, but of course that cannot happen. In my opinion Charlene Thomas will go out in first round. I prefer Dobriskey and England but would love to see Twell selected for 5000 as well. SteveK26 - clearly you are making that judgement...

I think Twell is slightly over hyped, if truth be known. Her Euro Cup run was awful - and I just don't see her as a 1500m runner anyway. Would be happy to be proven wrong in Berlin. Really, these girls who everyone seems to be extoling - when they are running 4:00, 4:02, and 4:03 they have as equal...

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one Patriot. I simply don't share your view that she is that much better than the other top British athletes. With perfect preparation last year she performed admirably but not far in advance of what the others are doing now. She clearly hasn't enjoy...

On the contrary, it is ignorant to believe that an athlete that has only run 4.09.66 for 1500m (finishing dead last in a race won in 3.58.) this year, is so clearly better than athletes that have run 4.03.6, 4.05.06 and 4.05.8 respectively. Since recording that time she has been injured again and mi...

Normally I would agree - in this case, I don't. She is a great talent - and none of the current crop - twell included - would have run like Dobriskey did in Beijing (irrespective of what people thought of her tactics). Twell is good - but her Euro Team Cup run was very, very disappointing. I did no...

I agree she should but only if every other athlete that wants to be considered for the Worlds is also doing it, and in their own event. The selectors for the Euro U20/23 said all athletes had to run at the trials in order to be considered but that didn't happen either. Does she think she is too goo...

Lisa Dobriskey

Copied from AD forum: Todays AW suggested Lisa Dobriskey is seeking permission to miss the trials, despite being fit enough to compete, so she can race in Switzerland a few days later. What do people make of this? Especially with 3 other girls with the A standard already (in times that Lisa has only...

I have a feeling in my water that with so many British athletes far from fit and healthy that the selectors, whatever CVC wants, will do exactly the same as they always do and use their ''discretion'' to push up the numbers. Therefore there will be a number picked on the 27th covering the CP meetin...

I'd like to have seen that 1500m (maybe Kermit will work some kind of magic later!). It is a good result, but at some point Charlene Thomas is going to have to start beating athletes like Lishchynska (even though IL has a 4:00 PB). If Charlene had managed to beat Lishchynska at last years Olympics ...

I was at the launch of the UKCCE a few weeks ago, so I may be able to fill in a few gaps in the understanding. The concept of the centre is to help improve coaching at all levels across all sports. A very big task, especially given the aim of establishing this country as the leading nation in terms ...
