MF; ‘Please remember though, that I work to a remit and job description, so I cannot be everything to everybody. I will not get involved in any debate that expects me to answer questions outside my job, so please keep that in mind.’ Then why come here? This debate is meant to be an open and compreh...
Heavy throws would survive even if the NCDP ceased to exist and even thrive, if the right people wanted to make it so. I am not a supporter of empire builders. The thread is about whether CVC should go, and the answer has to be a resounding yes, along with the governing body because it has failed to...
Like I previously said, we need a democratic accountable NGB for the 99.9% of athletics (grass roots) run on behalf of the clubs and by the clubs and a little accountable business looking after podium material on VFM basis funded according to its success rate.
Then there is the matter of an NGB needing so many on funding to show they are doing there jobs correctly, hence so many athletes being funded but hardly any of them on the podium...this is clearly funding to save jobs and it is wrong and another admission of failiure. Stings a bit this one doesn't...
In that case then the grass roots which represents 99.9% of the sport should have its own accountable democratic NGB and its taxes spent on the clubs, coachs, officials and athletes and not on a ridiculous sum in wages (£6million)to all the staff in UKAs ivory tower who have done jack to improve the...
Any fool with a pot of money can make themselves look good, this is all UKA have done, just look at the state of the grassroots if you want a true evaluation of UKA, absolutely disgusting. We have done equally well if not better when we had no money or paid jobs in the NGB and we would have done jus...
Yes, coach education needs work - but I don't buy the argument that every coach is just a training module from being the next Alberto Salazar, Stephen Francis or anyone else. Actually I've never met an effective coach who even credited a coach education system as playing even a minor part in their ...
Fantastic wasn't he Merito, and not an ounce of Lottery support this year !!! This medal was down to grabarz he is a real talent, and would have medalled in the hands of other good high jump coaches. So Just exactly other than Rutherfords Gold (and McNabb could have achieved this with ease) how man...

It is to late for all of that geoff, thay have all failed miserably and UKA needs shutting down. Any intelligent coach knows that a self elected NGB suchs as UKA can never deliver the goods in the manner they have used. All we need are good coaches, a large base/grass roots and the ability to earn ...

NO MEDALS FROM THE PLASTIC BRITS = waste of money and lost places for our athletes and another failiure of CVCs. It cannot be argued that this tactic was an unsuccessful one, and it showed me that CVC was clutching at straws to get his reduced target of 8 medals. It also showed how he and UKA have ...
Nothing will ever change whilst you have the likes of bigGuts and Fangio acting the way they do. This forum is not the place for serious discussion as posters as I have just mentioned want to kill off any suggestion intelligent positive changes which disrupts the status quo. Mike Winch has done more...
UKA have proven to us conclusively that £200 million pounds, and £6million pounds wages bill per annum does not a good NGB make. For 13 years they have had the money, the choice of coaches and the best facilities and back up teams money can buy and they have done no better than when it was done for ...
Top notch, and best ever, I now want to be an archer I must be genetically connected to robin hood I bet the French thought it was brilliant to but they will never say so
Then I nominate you Mike to start again with a new Proactive NGB tasked with rebuilding athletics from the bottom up, rewarding successes and providing an independent coaches association of the highest calibre giving free coach education and mentoring to active coaches. We need someone of your obvio...
Still waiting for our illustrious governing body to state its position (glorious success, couldn't be better, how well we all did, onward and upward etc. etc. etc. !!! Maybe we should just run the sport like the global economy... payment by results with subsidy for those events which fall short of ...
Perhaps if we had coaches squads instead and trained them up to be effective units around the country recieving back up via internet ,telephone, monthly workshops, and had a flying head coach to go around and service the needs of the many throws groups which would appear, bit like Wilf paish used to...
........ And when he goes take all the uselless UKA coaches with him. When MIchael JOhnson remarked a few years ago about UKA rewarding mediocrity he was referring to the athletes. Unforunately it has continued with UKA's so called top coaches. As Mo FArah said on the BBC this morning "you hav...
We got 6 medals and that has not beaten Atlanta '96 or Sydney 2000. CVC will say but we got 4 gold medals so it must be better! OK, we got 4 gold medals in Tokyo in '64, too. Nowhere has the colour of medals been mentioned. If we got 6 bronze he'd say we got 6 medals. At the end of the day they were...
