Re: Monaco Diamond League, 20.7.12

Have been driven to emailing the BBC sports editors about the level to which their athletics coverage has sunk. There is something far wrong when my heart sinks to hear that the coverage is on mainstream TV rather than the red button. Suspect they won't care having lost athletics coverage to Channel...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

I don't actually disagree jjimbojames.....the emphasis was really on Lynsey far exceeding expectations rather than on Maz delivering an average performance. I was just trying to juxtaposition the two and I don't think anything from Saturday will make the selectors consider that their decision was wr...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

Yes I'm obviously Lynsey's drug crazed mother...grow up. Whilst being a frequent visitor to the site I did decide to post in support of Lynsey because with the exception of a few posters making rational and reasoned analyses of the various factors contributing to the debate there were numerous very ...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

Actually Flumpy the 3 points that were sarcastically attributed to Jeremy 1 (as the position he would take if he hadn't decided to champion Lynsey): a) the A standard b) the quality of the Euros field c) the lack of further races against Jemma, Emma and Maz ...have been thrown at Lynsey over and ove...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

Sorry Djlovesyou...I accept your point and the times weren't ignored it was meant to be implicit in the fact that I said that championships are about racing not about times. Tbh I'd really have loved Jenny to be fit...and I suspect so would the selectors but unfortunately she isn't and I note that t...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

You're such a hypocrite. If you hadn't chosen to champion her, just to be contrary, you'd screaming blue murder that she was a no talent loser, who couldn't get an A standard, only medalled because the field was so weak and was now ducking running with the big girls as it would show how ordinary sh...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

.....and mump boys comments above? Really fed up with this....if people had stuck to arguing their case it would be a different matter but it's clear from comments still being posted that there's a lot of bitterness and bitchiness being thrown Lyndsey's way which is really unacceptable. The selector...

Re: IAAF World Junior Championships 2012

Thanks for posting the link Mr Halibut. What a great run and the joy on his face when he see's the time really made me smile. Fingers crossed that his early promise is fulfilled. Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

I really hope that Lyndsey does not read any of this. An original appeal on behalf of Marilyn I could understand but this has gone way beyond that and Lynsey is now being vilified for doing nothing other than winning the trials, getting a silver at the Europeans and ultimately being the selection pa...

Really just want to say it's over...so get over it all of you and get behind Lynsey (to whom happy birthday by the way). DJloves you....need I remind you that Lynsey beat Jessica Judd in the trials so wishing it was Jessica instead merely sounds like sour grapes. Ecosse and Jeremy1 have eloquently s...

Re: GB London Olympic Team

The 2011 times are included because the IOC quailing period to reach the qualifying time started on 1st July. Each individual nation may then set their own qualifying rules subject to the minimum IOC criteria (which includes the 'only one B athlete' rule). The UKA selection document states that the ...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

Afraid I disagree....12 major championship selections...no medals, very few finals and a few tactical errors.....I think that's the reason she wasn't selected. Don't get me wrong....I think that she's a great runner but I don't think the non-selection was personal, I think it was about her previous ...

Re: UK Women's 800m

Per the Scottish Athletics website Lynsey is going to run the 800m at the Aviva grand prix on 13th July. if she were to run the A standard would that be too late to upgrade a relay squad member (already named in the Olympic Team) to an individual event? I suspect it is but unsure of rules here!

Re: UK Women's 800m

To achieve what she has under these conditions is remarkable. When she puts in the time and the miles the early part of her race will improve.....and then watch out for that stunning finish and tumbling times Completely agree, this is exaclty why she should be targeting the worlds next year and not...

Re: UK Women's 800m

But when it comes to assessing the likelihood of various combinations of events happening it is a very useful tool and much more accurate than human int...

Re: UK Women's 800m

Clarification is always good :D I don't think the others are necessarily weaker that's the whole point. I think they are all pretty much even which is why i would prefer to see 3 selected I think that lots of people think that and it's probably why the panel took 2 hours to make this particular sel...

Re: UK Women's 800m

What you mean is... The trouble is that you are playing with loaded dice. So in fact those WHO ARE PERCEIVED TO HAVE a 5% chance actually have 0% chance (EXCEPT IT'S MORE THAN THAT - SEE NEXT LINE) of making a final because the dice are loaded ... Only some unforeseen act like a fall would get them...

Re: Maz Okoro to be added to the women's 800m

Apologies....I did misunderstand you. Attendance at the trials was the only way to guarantee automatic selection so you'd have to be either very brave or have a very good reason for missing it. Final selection is of course subject to ratification by the BOA (8th July I think) so it's always possible...
