Re: NEW FORUM NOW LIVE

I've managed to sign up to the new forum (after some messing about) but I can't say I much like the look of it :( Maybe just the shock of the new ; but I reckon the layout here was much easier to read . Ah well , progress waits for no man. Just have figure out how to get back to the "new" ...

Re: Tyson Gay banned for one year

I've always rather liked Gay. And I'm prepared to believe he was negligent here , rather then deliberately cheating. But so what ? He's not the first...and if he wasn't an American hero he would still be serving the usual two years. Bad precedent. Be interesting to see what happens when WADA - surel...

Re: Morgan Lake

Certainly a fine score in poor conditions , so surely a "moral" A qualifier ? Really think selectors should be guided by what she and her coach want to do (assuming there aren't too many better qualified athletes of course - which would seem unlikely) I cannot say which would be better for...

Re: New British long jump record ?

Blimey why does anyone automatically get picky when a British athlete does something exceptional ? After his Olympic Gold plenty of people complained about the unspectacular distance ( never mind all the others were jumping in the same conditions) and now when he gets a distance that rather proves h...

Re: SHOULD KJT GIVE UP MULTIEVENTS FOR THE JUMPS

Well this thread wandered around a bit :) Basic question interesting enough : reckon I side with the majority. No real reason for KJT to abandon the multi events at such a young age : a number of heptathletes have done pretty well at single events as well as their main one , as I recall. The program...

Re: IAAF World Championships 2013 (Day 9)

DQs galore...typical relay heats :)

For once GB made clean changes and may have a shot at bronze ...

USA and Jamaica going to be a dogfight.

Re: Team GB in Moscow

I think that is 71 points with a day to go ?

Chance for the rather underestimated O'Hare and the relay squads to add a few...reasonable for a fairly small team , maybe...

Re: Women's 4x400m

Well I do agree Jess would probably run a great 400 leg...but do you not think it might be just bit much to ask of her a few days after a full heptathlon ?

Of course if she were to switch to hurdles only ...

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 8)

Brilliant evening of athletics ...Bolt , Defar ...keen whj contest with a surprise winner , exciting relay ... Gemili a good fifth , just didn't have quite enough left in the tank...a repeat of his s-f time would have been clear in third... Predict a great future for him ...bold running , and he loo...

Re: Women's 4x400m

Christine finally runs a decent split - 49.6 and it didn't matter! And could ahve been faster if she had cause. But if Adeoye improves, Child is less tired and PSD comes back to health, it means we could seriously consolidate being 3rd over Jamaica and seriously challenge for the other medals. Agre...

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 8)

Did I really just see a Kenyan javelin thrower throw 85 meters ?!!

In the bronze spot ...training in Finland works wonders , but I bet he finds it cold :)

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 8)

Remarkable run from Rollins after a poor start...never thought she would run Pearson down like that ! Sad for Sally , but you can't begrudge the young American. What a star she is going to be...Donkova's record on borrowed time ?

And what a great run from Tiffany Porter ...well earned Bronze :)

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 8)

Agree Ashmeade might have had a bit up his sleeve. Thought Weir was rather disappointing , but certainly they are imposing bunch of opponents , and realistically Gemili will have to run out of his skin and probably still need one or two others to mess up ...but people often do mess up under pressure...

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 7)

Yes it seems the selectors don't learn from experience ...just like last year ,they sub in someone on hope over logic... Was sad about the relay , but at least we can look forward to Bowie as part of he future. Maybe they will get it right next year. Anyway after Mo and Gemili , I am permitting myse...

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 7)

I think it was a mistake to drop Jamie Bowie, Bingham is not in form. I rather thought that when I saw the final lineup :( They actually ran slower than in the heat ...Levine got tangled up with the pack and left himself too much to do : arguably should have committed early...but yes , Bingham just...

Re: IAAF World Championships (Day 7)

Those guys just don't learn do they? They did try something a little different... sorta, but yet again they passed the buck between themselves, not willing to take out the pace into a true run race and eventually the inevitable happened. Mo Farah has now cemented himself as one of the greatest dist...

Re: Adam Gemili

This boy has single-handedly lifted my gloom over our future prospects. That was an awesome performance in the 200 metres. Bolt has got it wrong for once. Delano Williams is not the young pretender, (good though he may be). But Gemili most surely is. Wonderful run. Expect sub 20 next year. Hah...I ...

Re: Can Perri Win 400m Hurdles Gold?

Can't see the point of switching to the flat ( except as a "last resort" if injuries meant she just couldn't have a hurdles career ) She is around the medal chances at worst in the hurdles , but on the flat she would have to improve significantly even to get into a final. Seems to me she j...

Re: Women's 4x400m

Well if the Jamaica DQ holds up , bronze is still up for grabs...

GB had a couple of seconds in hand on the rest in the qualifiers : can France or Nigeria improve their lineups enough to cancel it out ?

With PSD everyone would be assuming third place ... Maybe it is still on ?

It is true serious medal chances remaining are looking pretty thin...but should anyone be surprised ?
