Re: Shanghai DL

Agree with both Pig and frog here :) I know I should be critical of Chambers because he went to the dark side , but I can't help but feel more sympathy for him than most drug cheats. He does seem sincerely remorseful , and , as has been said , the penalties he has suffered for his sins are out of al...

Re: Doha DL

Mump I never said Green should change events. The argument sort of took me along a path that SUGGESTED he might have more success over the flat. You for one have banged on about how good he is in relays for ages. Isn't this forum a good place to mull over such stuff? There was a suggestions from so...

Re: Doha DL

Tend to agree with Steve that Green might be better off concentrating on the flat - at least for this season. True , the top echelons of the hurdles look a bit more accessible at the moment , but not if you keep stuttering over them... Thought it was a pretty good meeting for a first of the year. Ve...

Re: Athletics placings table

My own view, for what its worth, is that ''value for money'' might be best assessed by overall performance rather than judging it on two weeks in London. For example , someone wrote on another thread somewhere that 11 GB records have been broken this year. Thats a benchmark for showing progress, (o...

Re: 6 Medals - Success or Failure?

Not sure you can call it either a total success or failure : four gold medals is obviously good , and although six overall is down on target the two relay medals essentially thrown away might easily have secured that nominal pass mark. On the other hand , I agree with Jeremy that the points table is...

Re: Women's 4x400m

OK , would have been hard to catch Jamaica on those times - not sure we had the cattle to do it ...but would love to have seen TBO get the stick at least in sight of the first three... Was always a tough task - why make it impossible ? Ah well , after Mo's run I really don't care all that much :)

Will they ever learn ? :(

Re: Men's 5000m (MO DOES IT AGAIN!!!)

So after a few days of relative disappointment Mo has restored the Gold standard :)

He had an answer for everything they threw at him ...never seemed anything but confident at any stage of the race.

And that sustained sprint over the last lap ...awesome : way to finish the programme.

Re: Women's 4x400m

Cox ran much better than I feared in the heat . Just hope she can produce another good run here.

Even so I'd probably run PSD-Lee-Shana-TBO. Think TBO has to be on last...

Re: Will CVC really go now?...

Haven't a clue what he'll do , but I don't think you can say he's been all bad... Didn't Seb Coe say something five years ago about aiming for British finalists in 50% of events ? And got a bit of derision from some on here I think :) Well they have just about managed that , even if we'd have liked ...

Re: Men's 4x100m

A messed up relay is always disappointing , especially when they were on for such a great time. But some comments on here are not totally logical. Past events really shouldn't have anything to do with it - so a different set of sprinters dropped the stick , ran out of lane etc last year or four year...

Re: Men's 4x400m

Thought I might have cooled off somewhat after a night's - well morning's - sleep , but no... Disappointing performances I can live with : some of any team will underperform ,for one reason or another. Even the odd dropped baton etc , infuriating though it is when it happens so regularly . But cold ...

How to throw away a bronze medal

Re: w1500m at London 2012 Olympics

Alas , Lisa left her new-found tactical skills in the semi ...if she'd been in front of that fall who knows ...

And then the "dream" result

Come on relay boys , cheer me up ...

Is this what you think or the actual line up? I'd probably take that, although we'll be behind the big guns and may have some pressure to catch up

Never mind catching up . Just get the baton round and wait for the others to drop it :D

Harsh.

Good run to make the semi , not so good now , but absolutely no reason to believe any of the others would have made that final either.

Re: Men's 4x400m

Just read on the Guardian live blog that RSA have won an appeal and are in, despite not finishing. Seems odd to me . They were unlucky to get tripped by the Kenyan runner , but were no guarantee to be in the finish anyway , judging from where they were placed when the incident occurred... OK there ...

Re: M 800m

oldboy Good to see your inputs here. As you say Rudisha looks fit enough and mentally controlled enough to win, but will somebody get extra inspiration in the final, as did the 1500 winner? Rudisha setting the pace is inevitably vulnerable if someone can hang onto him and his high pace. Very intere...

Re: w1500m at London 2012 Olympics

Dunno. Think Lisa has looked good in both heat and semi , seems to be peaking at exactly the right time. We know these championship finals are often affected by falls and even top runners mess up their tactics...I think it is fairly open and if she can be in the right place at the right time I give ...

Re: wHT (NR for Hitchon)
