Selsousi (Morocco) - world indoor silver medalist - furosemide. 2nd failure after being caught with EPO in 2009. http://www.lequipe.fr/Athletisme/Actualites/Selsouli-privee-de-jeux/300443 The doping cases just keep on coming... This was predictable, but still fantastic news that she's been caught. ...
I was about to say the same thing trevorp. To compound it, they broke their PBs by 4 sec and 6 sec! Absolutely sickening. Glad to see Dehiba trailing in last however. Promising run by Dobriskey.
I agree, I can't see Sharp being selected as the sole athlete. Looking at UKA's criteria where there's a choice of athletes, the selections would go something like this: a. Multiple A standards (consistency): 1. Okoro (6), 2. Meadows (6, but none current), 3.Jackson/Simpson (2, but no current ones f...

I'm not sure you can
It would be the selectors' decision as I read it. Neither of the top 2 at the trials have the current A standard or reached the Daegu final. They are the only things that make selection certain.
Olympic team Okoro - has standard Sharp - well done with silver - on - young and improving - if race was paced would have got time - there is More there. Meadows - wild card - if she says she is fit, give her a go. Simpson isn't going to win it. Meadows deserves a chance given her service and pedig...
I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, but I reckon it's the decision they'll make. The mindset might be "Jackson/Simpson could sneak into the final, but we'll take a gamble on Meadows because she has medal-winning history."
I think Jenny Meadows will still almost certainly be selected, in part due to the paucity of options. Unless Lynsey Sharp runs the A standard in the final, I think it'll be Okoro, Meadows, Simpson. Jenny sounds very optimistic in this BBC interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18622805 A t...
And she outkicked Hannah England to get herself a Commonwealth bronze. Steph Twell led to 500m in that race and went through the bell in 3.04. I don't think you can call a last lap of 1min 2 secs outkicking anyone. In horse racing terms she stayed on at one pace. That is all I have ever seen her do...
She's the fastest in the race on PBs One stand-out time finishing a tailed off 11th in a Diamond League race does not a Championship winner make. Without the fracture and recent foot problems, I think she would have had an excellent chance -- against a very average field -- depending on how the rac...
Shame Steph Twell is unlikely to be fully fit. The 5,000 field tomorrow is one you would normally look at and think she has a chance of beating. I would not think she has any chance of winning a European Championships at 5000m, fully fit or not. Marathon in the future maybe. She's the fastest in th...
I think we need to take into account that the 100m trials are in just over 10 days time! A lot earlier than in previous years. I have no doubt we will see improvements but it is a bit worrying when so many are running badly or not even started their seasons yet. I'm not sure we can say our sprintin...
Sounds spot on to me, although Jegede isn't qualified as far as I'm aware (which seems crazy given he's world number 5 now). And we can add in Lewis to mPV and either Byers or Dennison to wPV after their excellent results in France yesterday.
I think these are the current qualifiers, according to the UKA criteria (brackets are those I'm assuming will not compete indoors this year -- i.e. no entry in the trials or grand prix): 60: Chambers, Harry AA, Pickering, Lewis-Francis (Malcolm, Dasaolu) 800: Thomas 1500: Farah, Moses, Brewer, Steve...
Essentially this comes down to depth. Number of sub-52 runners this year: USA 15 Russia 11 Jamaica 10 GB 4 (not including Shana Cox) So, what this means is that GB needs to have everyone fit and running well to stand a chance of a medal. The other three are likely, during a given year, to have at le...
A fully fit Bingham, Steele and maybe Jack Green would have improved this team dramatically. Rooney's split would have been the equivalent of 44.7-45.2 from the blocks, so his best race of the season. It shows the difference between him and the rest that he can run two rounds of the individual and ...
I'm not at all happy about men's 4x400 final being tonight  But since it is, does anyone know the GB team yet? Should Bingham have been risked in the squad, (he wasn't injured as far as I know), I think he may have been able to do better than one or two of the others. Since he is not there, w...
I'm looking forward to this, and in particular seeing Christian Malcolm run. I have a nagging feeling that he could go really well. There haven't been many years in his career when he's had an injury-free season. A surprise medal for him would be amazing. I think the medals will probably come from B...
I know Angelo Taylor didn't run well in the semi, but I wouldn't rule him out just yet. And there's a surprise coming from somewhere. Culson, Gordon, A N Other. I still think Greene will have to break the British record to win. The men's 4x400 heats this morning will be interesting. What bright cli...
Interesting that no one has mentioned Tugba Karakaya. Who? That would be the 20 year old who cruised to victory in her 1500m semifinal and made Uceny and Jamal look slow. That would also be the girl, who, a year ago, failed to make the final of the World Junior Championships. That would be the girl...
