Re: One down.......Positive tests!

A second positive test results in a 10yr ban rather than a life ban - please can someone explain this logic?

Re: Okoye not this year

I think Bob Weir played for the 49ers during his career but whilst its sad to see him leave the discus behind (temporarily I hope) I wish Okoye all the best.

Re: 2013 - The Return of Jeremy Wariner?

Have to agree with Ursus - the "infamous" fallout with Clyde Hart in early 2008 I think was the start of the end for Wariner and it was a shame as breaking 43.18 was a genuine possibility.

Re: TURKISH DELIGHT

I too have found reading through this thread interesting however I fail to see how asking what an athlete could have run and won if taking something is an interesting question

Re: Goteborg 2013 Day 3

From Memory the GDR sent relatively small teams. Plus when they competed in the 70s and 80s, many of the venues were 4 or at best 5 lane tracks. Indoor stadia really have improved. The relay wasnt part of the programme or you would have seen a much quicker CR. also no pole vault, or triple jump. If...

Re: WORST PERFORMANCE IN A BRITISH/ENGLISH VEST

I remember staying up into the early hours watching the 2000 Games and watched Shot putter Mark Procter not only fail to get the shot to roll over the qualifying mark, but then launched a foul mouthed tirade at a cameraman on live TV. How he wasn't sent home in disgrace I'll never know. It was poor...

Re: WORST PERFORMANCE IN A BRITISH/ENGLISH VEST

Worst performance in a British / English vest - Soloman Wariso.

Whole career TBH but in particular 1998 European Championships.

Still feel sorry for Roger Black nearly 15yrs later

Re: highs & lows - an assessment of Istanbul 2012

Highs: GB's best ever showing, USA domination of the medal charts, surprised Russia didnt win more.... Both long jump comps: Reese with best indoor jump since 1989, 1cm covering the medals in the men's comp, Claye's 17.70 and his Bible, Aldama finally winning a global gold, Eaton's 8.16 in the hepta...

Re: XL Galan 2012 (Isi 5.01 World Record)

Hmm, I'm really not sure on Isinbayeva's prospects for 2012. I guess after the World's (assuming she is still going) we'll know if she can get to grips with the atmosphere and pressure of a championship again. The no-heighting in Berlin ended a 5yr consecutive run of championship golds and I just wo...

Re: Duesseldorf meeting 10 Feb

Watched it earlier - was suprised to see P Jelimo back on the track for the first time in ages. Unfortunatley she and two others got DQ'd in the 1500m including the winner Genzebe Dibaba who ran just inside 4:02.

Re: European Championships 2012

Not sure how strong the team will be considering how close the Olympic trials (22/06 to 24/06) and Europeans (27/06 to 01/07) will be and CVC said in an interview with the BBC last year that "...track athletes who qualify for the Olympics will not compete in Helsinki" (not aware he has had...

Re: Can Lemaitre challenge Bolt?

If that happens then i'd be very surprised, and he'll have to contend with the likes of Dix, Gay, Spearmon etc. I've no doubt Lemaitre can get the altitude European record but 19.5? He'll need a massive step up to get that far. At least his 9.92 100 time should improve on the basis of a 19.8 200, a ...

Re: Phillips' landing - can it be improved?

I think the age Idowu is the landing wont be changed now - it hasnt done him much harm. Watching his 17.77 tonight, it kinda resembles J Edwards' 17.86 from the 2002 Commonwealths - the hop and step were probably the longest they've ever been (Edwards has always stated his first two phases were long...

Re: Daegu in review: conclusions and random thoughts

GB did well with their 7 medals - do we know of any other country who use a "medal target" like CVC? Yes there was a few disappointments that have been widely discussed elsewhere but they'll learn and do what it takes to put it right for next year and those who've surpassed themselves I ho...

Re: Day two

The yellow-card-the-whole-field system never made any sense to me. If that system was so much better, why don't the athletes all just pretend they're still using that system and that someone else already false started? Also, I think it sets a really awful precedent if they start talking about chang...

Re: The new preliminary format

As far as I'm concerned this format is in existence for all the wrong reasons with television in mind and no thought of the athletes. Why didnt they approach the athletes and see what they think - after all they're the ones who have to go and run. Plain and simple I hate it and I hope it gets abolis...

Colin Jackson is only good for one thing - saying the word "indeed" in his post-race analysis or trackside chat. For last weekend's London DL meeting me and my mates turned this into a drinking game - when CJ says "indeed", you drink! Good times over 2 days! Next time athletics i...
