Re: Various 2012 Olympic news

Read the Sunday Times today, front page.
Whilst the press like a good story, the facts are generally the facts and I feel for the real fans.

Def my last comments on this farce. Promise.

Re: Aviva Grand Prix Birmingham, 18 February 2012

Across the board, an excellent world class meet today in Birmingham, and encouraging for the GB athletes. Unusual, if not unique for GB victory in PV,HJ,LJ twice. Levine impressive;Ennis good performances in the lJ and outstanding in the hurdles. Pleased to see some excellent commitment from our mid...

Re: Various 2012 Olympic news

The details are supposed to be sacred about the ticketing fiasco but LOCOG seem to know that 75% of all tickets have gone to the UK public. One of ther great lies/half truths of all time, as the Sponsors hoover up enormous profits with their obscene profiteering and foreign companies like Co sport a...

Re: multi-events

2 performances significantly better than Dob , not 4. HJ is something that Jess knows can go easily wrong so middle to high 1.80s is just as likely as not this year for both women Those 2 performances are hurdles and 800m In which Jess is much better. The factor that I think is crucial in the multis...

Re: multi-events

going to make the the indoors more interesting and the OG positively spine chilling As far as Istanbul is concerned I think that Ennis will gain more in the first two events by 180 points approx, but most of that advantage will be gone in the Shot Put; Ennis will have the beating of Dob overall if h...

Re: UK Indoor Championships 11-12 Feb

paul, committed running is fine and foolhardy, but a world beater Okoro is not; every coach forever says equal laps is the best way to go but seriously 58 and 66 is not much kop. The race was over 800m after all.

Re: 2012 indoor season

not to mention a dead heat in the mens 3K in 7.29.94... Choge and Soi.. but must be a bit sick to come fourth in 7.32. A new world best for 2012 in the mens 1500 metres men in 3.34.56 by this very good Kenyan, Birgen and one can be sure that Ozbilen from Turkey who ran 3.34.67 will be a fav in Itanb...

Re: UK Indoor Championships 11-12 Feb

Good point by rapunzel. The young Polish 800m runner, Adam Kszczot, is the real deal; if he keeps fit he will worry the Kenyans and every one else..

This week-end's athletics in Europe and the USA has really stirred up the Ranking Lists, btw.

Re: UK Indoor Championships 11-12 Feb

Blimey, I,ve got Channel 4 's coverage of the world Indoors to look forward to, but I will try not to do self harm every time the adverts come up every couple of minutes. Todays TV coverage was rather poor and they better start doing athlete recognition after the failure to know who James Brewer is....

Re: 2012 World Ranking list ramblings

A quick whizz thru the men, pick up, tells us that nearly every OG Gold medal winner in 2008 was also the top ranked athlete that year, as selected by the Peter Matthews/Mel Watman group and shown in the the ATFS Annual; Bolt,Bolt,Merritt,, Bekele, Bekele,,Robles,Taylor,Silnov,Saladino,Evora,Majewsk...

Re: Women's 4x100m shock of the games?

In the last few years, at WCs and OGs, the time of the third place team in the women's 4x100m relay has varied somewhat, but middle 42s have been known to get Bronze, probably due to some errors by good National teams; as regards our National Team for the short Relay we have run middle to high 42s a...

Re: Commennee sticks at 8 medals

Re: Commennee sticks at 8 medals

Between 6-8 Medallists but a number of 4-8th is very probable. I cannot see Medals for the two athletes of the moment,Grab and Holly, but what makes this time round so difficult is the advantag of a home crowd which creates a considerable pressure which we do not know that less experienced individua...

Re: Olympic Stadium Take 2!

The SKY statement of cost is not convincing and the real cost won't be known until 2013. Costs are included that are not genuine add on OG costs; some policing costs, which would normally have been incurred anyway for the year 2012, are called OG costs. As for the so called total "real" co...

Re: Holly Bleasdale New National Record!!

There is no sole focus on the destination, merely reasonable observations on the pressures and expectations of the media and others; and a long season ahead. The destination is actually a series of destinations this year, WC in Moscow;Euro and Commonwealth Champs in 2014 and WC in Beijing in 2015.Lo...

Re: Holly Bleasdale New National Record!!

Some pole vault specialist tells us on another Forum, abroad, that a longer run than HBs current 14 strides? brings its own problems of additional control of the pole, and an extra couple of strides may well be little or no advantage, unless she can crack the maintenance of her speed/control for tho...

Re: OLY 4th on the medal table for GBR

Doesn't matter if you get your medals in only one or two sports, and tiny countries are hardly going to shine in a dozen sports. What about that country which got 7 Golds in cycling and the guy who got 8 Gold medals on his own. The fact is that despite the indifference of many of us about Meda...
