If we, a bunch of armchair fans could tell that was going to happen, then how come the guys in charge of selecting the team couldn't get it right hmm? =/

Re: mJT

Shock in the javelin! Walcott of Trinidan & Tobago wins the GOLD medal! :) (I'm pretty certain this is the first time a black man, let alone someone from the Caribbean, has won a medal in any major javelin comp (outside of the Commonwealth Games, but I'll have to look into that). Amazing achieve...

Awe-inspiring. Perhaps Bradley Wiggins won't have such an easy ride to SPOTY! Tough competition it'll be for SPOTY... Re: Men's 4x400m

F*** THAT! Thank you UKA, you've just thrown away a medal with that BS selection!! Great Britain ran a comfortable 3 min relay in the semi final with scope to go much faster, yet by bringing in Dai we might have gone under 3 mins, but only just and it was Dai's lack of flat speed which ultimately co...

DEM "SECOND STRING" AMERICANS! Just five hundreths of a second away from East Germany's (BLEH!) Olympic record from 1980!

Great change overs, fast running... scary stuff for the final with their A team!

Personally I wouldn't have Williams in the team, but we haven't got much choice in regards of replacements, so I guess they'll keep the line up the same in the final.

Re: W Long Jump

BTW, Brittany Resse is on fire tonight... every single one of her jumps have been over 7 meters (albeit 3 of the four have been fouls), but the last two fouls were in the 7.25/7.35m region!

Re: W 200m

A deserved victory for Felix, great bend and maintained her form down the home straight. 21.88 in virtually still air is a very impressive time.

Well done to Fraser-Pryce too for getting the silver. :)

Re: W Long Jump

Well that was quite a let down wasn't it? Had a great season, qualified comfortably for the final but when it came down to it, Proctor never looked at ease out there. I think that first jump really affected her because it was such an average distance... she then misjudged her second jump and fouled ...

Re: W Long Jump

Ugen couldn't have gone as she didn't have the Global A Standard of 6.75. Van Commenee actually said he would like to have picked her but couldn't. Oh, I had thought the 6.75m standard was the one set by Britain.. My mistake, though I still think the standard should be lowered slightly to reflect t...

We'll all be hoping it's enough... And if it's not, Sophie performed to the best of her abilities (beyond them in fact) and threw a new personal best and British record to boot.

Well done!

Re: W Long Jump

Re: mHJ

Damn... this is going to be a VERY interesting high jump final! Do we dare believe it's possible for Grabarz to medal? I think 2.33 will separate the men from the boys and give us a greater idea. If Grabarz can clear it first time, it would really help his cause... Alas ! No ... Two more tries but ...

Iain They shouldn't have been competing because they'll do themselves more damage. And its disappointing for the fans to see them at half-mast. Agreed.
