Re: IAAF World Championships 2013 (Day 9)

Awesome series by Tamgho - 18.04, 2 more over 17.60 and 3 18m fouls! I do with they'd stop saying that a performance is "the X furthest jump of all time" when someone goes to X on the all-time list. Tamgho was already #3 on the all time list and that was the 4th furthest legal jump AFAIK, ...

No Barshim? You don't fancy his chances for a medal, or did he get injured?

No two ways about it - it's on BBC3 itself, indeed. And boy oh boy are we in for a treat.

Re: Rate BBC's 2012 athletics coverage

I had it set to record off Freeview 301 (red button channel) a few days ago, double checked this morning and it's still scheduled, with nothing on BBC3. The EPG lists Lausanne for BBC3 on Thursday.

Woohoo, Patton is in! Nice of the US to give everyone a chance, just a shame they didn't get drawn next to Jamaica or T&T.

Re: London 2012 prediction contest (Geoff moving up)

I'm getting killed by injuries. My own stupid fault for picking Liu, Idowu, (Lashawn) Merritt to win. Not to mention Kiprop (if he counts), Foster-Hylton, Dobrynska and whoever else. And now Lemaitre has lane 2, even the template's going to lose a point there :)

I thought she got a valid 67-something on the 1st round? Either way, great job. She's in 5th at the moment, with another qualifying group to come.

Penny for the thoughts of Talbot...

Take note CVC... Ellington feels that he took Talbot's place.

And yet he didn't - there was a spare space for Talbot to take

I wonder if that was a deliberate dig at CVC?

Re: mTJ

This is going to be even more depressing on Thursday if the likes of Claye, Coppello and Donato are performing like today and it ends up taking barely 17m to medal.

Re: Olympic Betting

For long shots, it's worth looking for events that are prone to upsets - hurdles, relays, very technical field events. These are the events where you DON'T want to bet on the obvious winner at crap odds. For a slightly silly patriotic bet, Okoye is 12/1 at bet365. For the men's 4x1 you can get T&...

Yes, Grabarz had no failures. Ukhov had 1 at 2.26, Williams and Kynard had 1 at 2.29.

Phew... just got back from the stadium. That was my one Olympic ticket and it didn't disappoint. I couldn't believe what happened in the hurdles, I was bracing myself for another missing hurdle fiasco... Fountain 12.70 and like 4 or 5 sub 13s! I thought Jess' time had to be too good to be true. Re: Olympic 100m final Prediction

Lemaitre isn't running the 100.

1 Blake
2 Bolt
3-6 Blanket: Gatlin, Gay, Powell, Bledman

The other 2 finalists are probably Ryan Bailey and Burns or Thompson. But I'd like to think with a favourable semi final draw and all the planets aligned, Adam Gemili might sneak in :)

Re: London 2012 prediction contest

Hope I didn't pick anyone who didn't even make their national squad :) A quick look reveals Koech, Mateelong and Soboleva. The Kenyans are sending Kipruto, Kemboi and Mutai in the steeplechase... some have suggested Koech could replace either Mutai or Kemboi, but this doesn't seem very likely. The ...

Re: Olympic Betting

You could still get Greg at 20/1 for a good couple of weeks after his DL win left him with the TWO world leading jumps. Some of the bookies seem to be a bit slow to respond to these things, but maybe they're paying a bit more attention now.
