Re: IAAF World Relays

Debbie Ferguson is running in the 4x200M WTF, she is coaching at colegiate level!! If she runs I'll be so thrilled... and not content with one amazing vetern, Christine Amertil is down for the 4x400. The Bahamian Ladies really do go on FOREVER--- Eldece Clarke, Pauline Davis, Chandra Sturrup,...

Re: IAAF World Relays

HOW does Hayley Jones keep making these teams ahead of the likes of Sophie Papps and even Annabelle Lewis, Ashleigh Nelson etc?

Men's teams look poor on paper, but may be well drilled.

Im really looking forward to the event.

Re: World Junior Championships

Not that I'm stalking teenge girls on twitter, but I noticed this exchange between Henry and Shaunae Miller (Bahamas) recently https://twitter.com/DesireeLHenry/status/451090080355336192 Henry not doing Commies in favour of JWs. The british Junior Ladies are coming through so well, it's just a shame...

Re: World Indoors Day 1

VERY interested to see how JANAY DELOACH does in the Hurdles. 7.82 is pretty special for a long jumper. Given how technically lacking she is in the LJ, it's so strange that she would switch to an even more technical event....but she's obviously VERY talented. Would love Osagie and Mark English to do...

Lopez actually switched to Ain, right at the end of her career. Lilianna Allen moved to Mexico ;)

Re: IAAF World Championships 2013 (Day 9)

Why are people telling me that there's no Desaolu in the 4x1 and Adam is on the FIRST leg. And Worse... The women are anchored by Hayley Jones... Dina- Ashleigh- Lewis and JONES So , you know, just leave your THREE fastest off the team. Infuriating! Jodie has practiced, she ran a stormer at U 23s an...

Re: IAAF WORLD CHAMPS 2013 (Day 4)

Pole Vault uses video footage to analyse whether or not the athletes clear the bar cleanly and without touching the bar with their hand, correct? Why then is the walk reliant on the eyes of some random, possibly partisan judges to spot lifting/bending etc in a millisecond moment? The only reason I c...

Re: The Lighter side of the World Championships

The late replacement.... Likely of no interest to anyone, but Moser's replacement in the 1500m is an interesting case. She's the Kevin Bacon of track, apparently. Sarah Bowman (now Brown) was involved in some super three way battles against Hannah England and Sally Kipyego at the NCAA champs in 2008...

On TFN they are saying apparently she hit a barrier hard in her last training session so for real :( Not wanting to nit pick, but TFN merely quoted Statman Jon's Tweets and interactions with a Russian fan. Jon is a moderator here and writer for Iaaf and AW.... Hate to see TFN's horrific message boa...

Re: Minor Medals in 100m & 200m

Shaunae Miller, the world Junior Champ at 400m, Ncaa indoor champ and outdoor silver (50.5 gal), is actually only doing the 200m here. She has 22.4 pb but is without doubt a big time performer. I have half an eye on her to place top 5! The Bahamas 4x1 team are quality too with Strachan - Q Ferguson ...

Re: Minor Medals in 100m & 200m

I put 50 euro in a ladbrokes account about 5 years ago and never added anything since. Last year, I made about 30 accumulators and a basic one got me 4 thousand Euro. https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/229105_10151164761930320_193037993_n.jpg Wasn't even particularly outrageous. ...

Re: Turkey

Just looking at the IAAF list and see Tobias was banned last summer. She won bronze in the 1500 m in Beijing just ahead of Dobriskey. Her team mate won silver ( Lischinska) and they are both coached by the latters husband. The 1500m is filthy.

Let's not pretend this decision has anything to do with fitness, ability or loyalty. This is purely economics. What a soft world title up for grabs. None of the London medalists are there, Yosipenko has barely been on the radar, Djimoh is on a downward curve and Zelinka is only doing hurdles... Brianna Thiesen/Machtig and Perhaps KJT could spring a surprise. If KJT long jumps a 6'80 and and shot puts better ...

Re: Women's 4x100

I do think we need to remember that the London track assisted a dozen teams to smash world/national records. It's a very fast track. I wouldnt be surprised to see slicker changes but a slower time in Moscow. Part of me thinks they should run the team as is, part of me thinks Asha and Jodie should be...

Re: Greg In Tomlinson Out

I feel like people are oblivious to Tomlinson's fantastic record over the past Decade. He has been top ten at most championships since 2003 worlds, including 5th in Athens, 6th in London and A finalist in Berlin and Daegu. That is some achievement. However, perhaps he needs non selection to force hi...

Re: Women's 4x400m

Davita Pendergast is a well known relay legend in Jamaica. She has kept big names like Walker/Spencer/Simpson out of the relay team because of her ability to run low 49s. I actually believe Eilidh is a bit like Prendegast with a jack of running far better for a team than in the individual. There ar...

Re: Women's 4x400m

Having said all that.. Ha

I remember TBO running 50.5 on the first leg in Osaka

That would actually be useful here.

TBO-Anyika-Child/Cox- Perri could also be interesting.

Women's 4x1 is also hard to pick

Asha-Anyika-Nelson-Williams

Or

Dina - Anyika- Jodie-Asha

Or Asha-Anyika-Lewis -Williams

Re: Women's 4x400m

Eilidh, Perri, Shana, TBO would be my call.

Unless Onoura proves a Relay beast ( <50.2 ) in the heats, Shana has way too much experience to be dropped for a novice with a slower SB and PB.

Re: British Trials 12th-14th July

Lisa Dobriskey has tweeted she has a grade 3 tear which has ended her season. :( She will retire world silver medalist (should have been gold), and Commonwealth champ. Consistently robbed by drug cheats. I'll remember her as the girl who could/should have won Beijing. She was the best in that race,...

Re: so what would your world team look like?

Men's 100 and 200 are the main hard calls. I expect they'll pick 100: chambers, Desalou, HAA I'd go for: Desaolu, Chambers, Gemili Men's 200m, I suspect they'll go with Ellington, Talbot, Gemili I'd go for Williams (no hesitation), Ellington, Gemili I just don't see HAA or Talbot as having any chanc...

Re: British Trials 12th-14th July

One swallow a summer does not make. It's actually 'one swallow does not a summer make'. And we're not talking about birds, seasons or veritable weather patterns, but rather, an athlete's body and the ability to build performances up to a championships. Desaolu's team are inspired, as is the athlete...
