Re: Oscar Pistorius

Sadly the whole thing is now turning into a freak show. Looks like Seb (and co) have lost their poster boy to promote the Para Games now.

Re: Belgrave men bow out of British Athletic League

I remember competing in the British League throughout the '80s. Competition was keen and 'big' names regularly showed up to perform. Time moves on and things have to change over the years. However, what worries me is that I cannot see how it is changing for the better. I get regular updates from old...

George Gandy

Just picked up from a Doug Gillon article that George Gandy is one other coach 'getting the flick' from the powers that be. It does seem that some faces do not fit the new regime. KInda reminds me of last century in parts of the world when people were replaced, cities were renamed and proven success...

Re: Uk coach of the year made redundant !!!!

Jeez, I really feel for you guys here. Utter sh*te. The stuff you have to swallow is beyond belief. Last man leaving the room switch the light off on UK Athletics (sorry now renamed British Athletics). Seems like 2012 meant nothing!

Re: Uk coach of the year made redundant !!!!

I'm confused, in my simplistic world you reward excellence. Getting an athlete to a major games is not easy, getting an athlete to Olympic medal is about as good as it gets. Sheffield works for JE, why change? TM works for JE, why change? What in god's name have these 'decision' makers done to move ...

Old pals

During the Olympics I had many old pals (mixture of internationals, Olympians, medallists and champions) they were all consistent in one thing: Great, Great, Great! These are hard nosed 'been there done it' guys and they loved it. Methinks London did a good job, and I am a cynical Glaswegian. If any...

Re: 6 Medals - Success or Failure?

Grabarz, unheralded in world athletics, managed the noise of the stadium and won a bronze. Boy, I wish I could have one as well as that in my life!

Re: Cost of Plastic Brits

The recruitment of sports people, to both parties mutual benefit, is a worldwide business. It thrives in almost all sports and on all continents. To ignore it and embrace the Corinthian spirit is not going to help any country. Things change: cars, music, technology etc etc. I hate to say it but I be...

Re: Overall impressions of London 2012

The best I have seen and I've seen a lot. In athletics US rocked, Africa were great, Jamaica blew me away and the UK made me proud. We could have been better but I will take those 4 golds any day. One thought though. There must be a lot of very nervous UK athletes currently on funding, situations va...

Re: Rate BBC's 2012 athletics coverage

Much the same as SteveK26, here in Malaysia we had loads of Olympic channels and great coverage. Athletics was presented by Peter Matthews, Stuart Storey and John Trower, amongst others.

What a great 2 weeks and I'm knackered!

Re: Idowu Hires Own Medics!

What really worries me about PI is that I am sure (injured or not ) he has a huge jump in him-as a one off. Sadly he has to get through qualifying and I am not sure that he is up to that. The cloak and dagger game doesn't help in any way, not that he should roll over for UK Athletics.

Re: London Diamond League 2012

Kris Akabusi was a much different animal. After being an 800m man he was vey much part of the 400m scene through Mike Smith then Mike Whittingham. A good (very good) part of the 4x400 team, but Dai still has the exciting possibilities. I understand the stats from previous years, but this year the st...
