Re: Loughborough International meet

HI sidelined - I PMed you rather than publisie adn confidential conversations on line. I know we are not making any comments specifically about this LInt but I woudl be very interested to hear what Geoff has to say about Wales' lack lustre performance again. Geoff, if you didnt know, is pretty switc...

Re: Loughborough International meet

I wouldn't be writing anyone off quite yet - make a good judgement at the end of the season. OK so some of the psirnts are not up to it but again it is early days although not shwoing many signs of good form for later. Rhys has moved back to his caoches in Wales hasnt he - so much for the innterferi...

Re: Coach Education Criticised

I have not been involved too much recently but what I saw in the L1 and L2 was mostly rubbish and even though it was aimed at a basic level, there was too little basic skills taught. The u coahc site is useful but you cannot learn evrything by a website. Ithink as time goes by people will start aski...

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

I think a lot of it was contractural - it may have been CVC or Collins who had parts in the lottery contract that criticism of a host of things to do with UKA etc may result in a loss of funding and there was also a bizarre part of it which appeared to suggest that a positive atitude and conforming ...

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

I agree Sam - maybe in some events we needed some technical know how but jus becuase we havent had mnay good female shot or discus throwers at the top level is simply because we have ot had the athletes and many of our 6 foot women do notwant to be throwers. We do not have lots of big strong girls o...

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

Sorry exile - I was half asleep - I agree with you - it was athlete 101 and respectfully disagreeing with him. I am not against foreign coaches at all , but I think we have had far too many recently and paid a lot, working with our best and not exactly made a big difference across the board. We have...

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

Sorry exile , (now corrected to athl101) but you are somewhat misguided about the coaches you refer to. Not all of the athletes they were involved with were successful and in some cases it is pretty easy to pick the best athletes and then take credit for them not doing much better than before. Ruthe...

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

I would have liked to have seen Kevin Tyler at the helm but now all the foreign coahces who came over in the first wave have all gone -I think we should repair much of the damage done in the non elite part fo the sport who feel disenfranchised. MAny of the jobs have turned in to poisoned chalices an...

Re: SO how do we evaluate the Charles Van Commenee era?

Re: SO how do we evaluate the Charles Van Commenee era?

I have no need to disbelieve that we talked. I know I was critial about our sprinters in genreal and why the occupied 60% of the funding if not more at the time but I remeber that COllins had got the structures in place and also we had the best junior adn u23 results for some time and there were nea...

Re: SO how do we evaluate the Charles Van Commenee era?

They are my opinions! CVC brought in his team (of foreigners) and I am sure he had some say in how much they were paid (Bob weir was not one of his appointments and he was got rid of without having served a year or a complete winter so how could you decide if he had been effective?) - e.g. Lough cen...

Re: SO how do we evaluate the Charles Van Commenee era?

HA ha - who dares wins! Few if any will dare speak out because the same people are still in charge! Dare I suggest that your identity has already been requested and revealed to UKA? BTW when I sat down and spoke to him at length in the US I thought he was a good bloke and someone I could do business...

Re: Peter Stanley Appointed Head of Coaching

Kermit, I appreciate what you are saying and with respect to me - but I was asking not about politics in general but what were the specific politics here. I just realised he is in charge of UKA and England as well. I think you are right about archiving but the people who I have championed like Malco...

Re: Peter Stanley Appointed Head of Coaching

I also think this is a good appointment and popular because- and call me old fashioned - number 1 he is British coach and number 2 he is a coach with a very successful background in coaching elite performers which will sit well with the rank and file. It is demonstrating that there are places in the...

Just run - i dont underestimate the NCAA haivng been there for a couple of years and kept an eye on results. Re: BUCS

Jeremy if you look at current teams and previosu teams for lough brough they would get points in the NCAA finals. Look at last years results and in the field especially the Loughborugh team and UWIC team of recent years would score points. E.g Brett morse, dai Green, and a high jumper (2.25 adn ong ...

Re: BUCS

I can not think of many marqueeuni athletes if any who do not do BUCS or have not attended. 10.41 wins the 100 and 11.97 the women with plus winds. Not that good of a standard. If you look at the CBP's the BUCS are pretty near to NCAA Div II or even Div III but I would expect most events woud win th...

Re: BUCS

Zane is continuing to improve which is great news but what I want to know is what do they feed them in Jersey? Kelly Sotherton and quite a few other marquee athletes have come from this tiny Island. Maybe a mid 19 throw this year 20m plus next year - then we have a genuine decent shot putter on the ...

Re: Okoye not this year

For the 2012 season, minimum NFL base salaries are ... 1) Rookie - $390,000 2) 1 year - $465,000 3) 2 year - $540,000 4) 3 year - $615,000 5) 4-6 year - $700,000 6) 7-9 year - $825,000 7) 10+ year - $925,000 I am sure he will be on more than that - but not a bad starting salary for your first job at...
