A few days later, still suffering the effects of his illness, Priestley was selected for an out-of-competition drugs test. A few weeks later the test was confirmed as positive for Clenbuterol – a banned substance that can be used to burn fat, but is also known to be illegally used by farmers to pro...

Yes kermit you are correct to say a chef/nutritionist should be taken with them, samples of all foods could be taken and stored. Is this so unreasonable given how many problems Africa has with steroids intheir meat. This is a well documented problem UKA could have made sure all athletes especially ...

I was under the impression that the test was up to a week after the illness. Do you know that this is not the case and that the test took place in South Africa. I only ask as I agree it would be stupid to take it on the camp, but from what I have read the test seems to be a week later. I'm also bas...

I'm probably wrong but maybe she didn't want to be on the same team as Fraudulent Frenchie and Cheating Cakir. :? You know what, that's probably true. I take your point, Dutch, I was reading the statement late at night with insufficient attention. I'll alter my summary. What seems strange to me is that if you wanted to take steroids would you a) choose clanbuterol and b) choose to take it at a UKA-funded training trip to South Africa when you'd b...

I believe Callum Priestley. I doubt many athletes would take clenbuterol as a PED nowadays.

Ms Katarina Johnson-Thompson '93, 5481 '09 - headline catching And '10: a 60Hi & 100H improvement; things don't appear to be working out for this still very young one? No wonder she hadn't crossed my radar since engaging a bit more from SEP '09. So an investment for '16 and start investing now?...

I just can't get excited by all these youngsters running fantastic times/throwing great distances. Yes, it's good but.. 2nd fastest after MLF-nuff said. We've had so many youths/juniors etc who have been fantastic that I've become very sceptical about their 'potential'. What is 'potential'? So many...

Michael, are you including athletes who got a one-year ban for missing a drug test? Regardless of the perceived validity of their excuse, I would think their names should also be included.... Re: How did drug cheats do in the European Champs?

I was going to post something similar it became apparent that these "Former Drug cheats" are nearly better than ever. It´s very un nerving. Turkey had two entrants in the women´s 1500, both back from bans. Having two cheats in the same event from the same country just tarnishes that count...

I'm still not convinced about Twell running the 1500m at major champs mainly because she's got no finishing pace at all. I still think if she's running in a heat which is being run at 4:10-pace, I'm still very dubious about her ability to qualify. Nuria Fernandez, fast-finishing 2010 European Champ...

MichaelF, Dwain Chambers (100m) and Mo Farah (5000m) are favourites to claim gold in my opinion too... I agree that Farah is probably favourite in the 5,000m. He can outkick Bezabeh and Sanchez. I have a feeling, however, that Espana might cause a mini upset and outkick Mo (again). The 10,000m is f...
