Re: Should London Marathon Offer Prizes Only To British Athl

So the marathon should have been a solo run from Mo, then a solo second place 3 mins behind then a pack racing for 3rd further back? Maybe we could call the BAL premier the diamond league and see if it still televised worldwide? Jon Bicourt seems to put a lot of time and effort into coming up with t...

Re: SHOULD KJT GIVE UP MULTIEVENTS FOR THE JUMPS

I'd also suggest that however she is training right now is likely to see her become a 2m/7m jumper anyway - to have put together 6.81 and 1.96 indoors I would not be surprised to see the LJ at least increase during the outdoor season.

Re: Sopot Team

Thats why he needs the drugs to mend him....hahahaha Maybe the injury was caused because the alleged illegal substances were making him perform beyond his body's capability? (I do not assume the case is the same for James D). It is worrying how often James is breaking down though - is it really dow...

Re: Indoor Trials 8-9 February 2014

Ashton, you pathetic know nothing except for your juvenile flag waving to prove what a fan you are; you have yet to make an intelligent observation about track and field and anything you say has to be "positive" or "negative"; probably spent too much time at school in the scienc...

Re: Luke Cutts New UK record 5.83

To answer 10 events question, I think he could be in with a shout of a medal - he was compeitive - even leading Renauld at one point (before his class shone through later in the comp) but he seems confident and not daunted by the fact that he is in the mix now.

Re: Luke Cutts New UK record 5.83

I would also like to have seen Cutts picked last year and think he was hard done by. That said, you can't assume that because he has vaulted a PB and NR this season that he would have done 6 months as well. He's obviously put a huge amount of time and effort into training and come out better than ev...

Re: Are GB Athletes living up to potential ?

Coaches advice: run hard for 600m and try and hang on. Do it and then realise you ran too hard in the first 600 and are not in shape to hang on at that pace. Action: do it again and again and again. I don't think anyone would keep listening to that coach?

Re: Should Spain have been disqualified at the Euro Cross?

Just revisited the Twitter threads about it - Andy Vernon has been retweeting even worse language than he managed to use himself. Not very impressive stuff and even if he thinks he had a point in the first place he looks childish now.

Re: Should Spain have been disqualified at the Euro Cross?

It's such a minor offence that it can't really have created a genuine influence on the results. Only a very sore loser would keep pushing a point like this (which is what Andy Vernon is portraying himself as). I don't quite understand athletes acting like him on twitter - there have been other examp...

Re: PSD could miss 2014 season

I agree with Steve - she proved this year she is a potential world medalist and in years to come potential global champion so it would be awful to see her rush back for a stab at the Commonwealths when she is capable of so much in the coming years. In that case, may be a great opportunity for Child ...

Re: What's next for Christine Ohuruogu?

Rather than retread what has been said a thousand times before about the drugs test next day, moved training venue etc. I'll remove the accidentally. Single athlete with no indication of ever failing a test gets undeserved ban for missing arbitrary number of tests over arbitrary period of time vs. ...

Re: Funding 2014 - who is in/out?

Playing devils advocate a bit- why does she need funding? Her main problem is injury which she will get free support for anyway from UKA. Will getting a free £25k a year get her over 70m? If so how? Wasn't she already sponsored by that benefactor (Barry)? In that case why does anyone need funding? ...

Re: Funding 2014 - who is in/out?

Really good news about Goldie I hope this year she proves she can get back to the kind of form she was in at Crystal Palace - 65+ will be in with a shout for global medals and I hope she can do that one day. Europeans will be tough this year but in the Commonwealths there should be a good opportunit...

B Standard - Right Decisions Made?

Now that the champs have passed I thought it would be interesting to assess whether the decisions made on the B standard selections/non selections or other contentious selections were right as it caused quite some discussion before the games: Rutherford - There was quite a tough call between Rutherf...

Re: Women's 4x100

Time for everyone to leave Hayley Jones alone. By definition, on the day, someone has to be the (marginal) slowest in any team, and perhaps Hayley held that position in the team at the w/e. But, also by definition, someone with guts has to nail their colours to the mast and run the anchor. Lots of ...

Re: Greg In Tomlinson Out

As we have seen it is hard to pick someone on a B standard which is what was necessary here. To me its even harder to pick an Olympic Champion or joint British Record Holder if they are significantly away from the A standard and showing no form to suggest it is going to happen at the worlds. William...

Re: Greg In Tomlinson Out

I think Oleg was referring to the the likihood of GR (or CT had he been picked) performing well short of his own potential. I don't think it was meant as a wider comment, but I could be wrong! Yes Ursus. I don't mean anyone that will be outside the top 8 is not worth picking. In fact my personal pr...

Re: Greg In Tomlinson Out

Unfortunately I don't think we will see a top 8 placing for a Brit which would kind of prove that neither really deserve to have been picked. Of course I hope that GR will prove that theory wrong but I can't see it happening.

Re: Greg In Tomlinson Out

Rutherford totally bottled the Grand Prix at the weekend. Not only should he have jumped to prove he was fit for competition (rather than fit to pass a fitness test - 2 completely different things), but he also had the opportunity to prove that he deserved to go ahead of Tomlinson in a head-to-head...

Re: BBC Athletics Presenters

On a personal level I could do without Colin Jackson. However he is popular among the general public which make up the larger numbers of the viewers of these programmes, not the 50-100 regular athletics chat board users so I would imagine that he will be around to stay. They do a lot of research int...

Re: Bolt - "I'm clean"

Somebody (I forget who, sorry) mentioned that there is a "look in the eyes" of drugs cheats. I also have this feeling and Bolt just does not have that look. In the past Johnson was the first to have that look and over the years many have passed with that same look as well. I always said to...

Re: All star cast at London Anniversary Games

Ursus, I sort of agree and I sort of don't (which puts me somewhere between an athletics fan and an entertainment fan). I think if the cheers are too selective then the atmosphere would not be as great. Last year we were in the stadium for the Paralympics when Weir, CockCroft, Greaves, Peacock etc w...
