Geoff. Lets put it basic.. The UK schools games involves athletes outside the top 20 in the UK... some outside the top 50..as proven in previous posts. So doesnt really have the talented kids from across the UK. We both have experience of this as we both had athletes at Coventry both at different en...

Just had a quick look at the U17 / U15 results from the AAA's and apart from a handful of celtic winners it was dominated by English results.... As most have reminded me that this is the unofficial GB champs then that would add more to the ESAA case of being the show piece event come 2012... Well do...

by inviting the top 20 Pof10 talented athletes then I would presume that performances would be of a high enough standard for you 100m. It would be better than allowing someone from say the NW or Wales ranked 80th in the UK to compete against the No1 in the UK. As an athlete would only want the best ...

The idea of testing out the structures wouldnt require vast amounts of spectators etc. scale is not the issue but timing on a smaller scale would prove invaluable... I think you underestimate parents of athletes chosen at a test event if it were televised by the BBC. When the ESAA is at Alexander st...

Heres an idea for the olympic year what about The home country Schools Associations run qualifiers to select teams for each county, administered by the ESAA (as they are used to large competitions structure) before anyone says....biased. Standards should be set at current ESAA standard (as to avoid ...

its a no win situation,,,, if your in the top 20 in the country you can compete...regardless of where you live,,, you could represent your country of residence at the time of selection. isnt that a fair way.... all countries would be represented so pleases everyone call it the 2012 UK School Youth O...

Is there any examples of myself calling the welsh derogatory names or moving away from the truth that they are in athletics terms just a region..... I have had some good and bad experiences whilst in wales, the...

The UK Schools games could be used but the majority of the best British athletes are at home whilst their places are filled by Welsh athletes who wouldnt get an ESAA county standard never mind the ESAA qualifying standard. Look back to posts on the UKSG held in glasgow when Sadie Watts father argued...

Geoff I was present at last years Welsh champs with my English athlete winning.. a Scottish lad second and if not for injury in the hurdles a young Irish lad would have been in the mix (gold, silver or bronze)... I coached Sportshall athletics a number of years ago and some of the best athletes at 9,10,11 and 12 did not progress later due to growth etc. Instead of looking at predicted times find a coach with a LTAD approach who will learn th...

Anthony I'm not angry at anything...suprisingly. I am just stating a fact that another athlete leaves the fold disillusioned. How many do you lose before some bright spark says enough is enough. We have discussed athletics at length as athlete / son & father /coach and have made a final decision...

I'll leave you to do the detective work,,, it isnt hard based on previous posts.. another lost athlete who has Pof10 performances for the past few years.

The message is clear... Support athletes or lose them to other sports as they lose interest, enthusiasm and hope that it may change.

Bye Bye athletics

Having recently taken my son who took part in a talent ID for another sport it became apparent that athletics has been left in the dark ages... Having spent the past 7 years involved solely in one sport I have at last seen that professionalism does exist in sport in the UK... Unfortunately the outco...

I'd rather finish 8th at the world juniors champs than get Gold in the Commonwealth youth games. Just look at the qualifying standards... great for an U18 but not equal to WJC. Compare the results against the WJC when it is over to prove the point. Its like comparing the ESAA champs with the Warring...

Dave Forrester has to be in a league of his own.... he's got my vote. I am a bit biased though.. as I used to go out jogging & assisting with the U13's at Sutton with his then coaches Danny Mcloughlin and John Irwin. Between Danny and John (the real brains of sutton) who would not let the kids r...

Mike If you had endorsed this as your own idea,, pilot scheme i would no doubt give 100% support, you have a proven track record and I have seen you in action at the BACT classes a few years ago. The problem with myself and probably a lot more coaches is the ABAC tag given its past tactics on this a...

Mike Is this another ARC designed to futher split an already fragmented sport. I agree that coaches need a voice,, dont we have the ACAUK for the same reason. ABAC has one goal in mind and that is to totally segregate every part of athletics in to its constituent parts, devide and conquer is the term.

How do you rate a coaches worth... lets say I super compensate 4 times over a macro cycle, get a superb performance from my 16 year old athlete... you can see where pay on performance and development of young athletes will go. Plenty of promise but unable to compete the next season due to injuries. ...
