Re: Geneva meeting, 2 June

I also disagree that one off freak performances should be questioned per se. Moorcroft el al had their perfect day and it is entirely possible that one of these performances would be the perfect day for that individual. But usually logic dictates between a "raise your game" type performan...

Re: Geneva meeting, 2 June

Comparing one-off "raise-your-game" type performances (eg Coe, Cook, etc), with a whole set of results from one meeting where almost all athletes performed better than expected is not really a valid comparison. In the history of the sport, there are several examples of truly questionable p...

Re: World Indoor Championships Istanbul 2012

The 60H start lists have now been amended and Ennis is no longer on there. Presumably the earlier version was simply taken from the entry lists, whereas the latest version (sans Ennis) is the list of athletes who have actually declared for the event.

Re: World Indoor Championships Istanbul 2012

Admin can a section of the board be set up for these championships please (as you did for last year's outdoor event). Done! To add to this can last year's events also be reposted in a new section of the board called "Championships". Such a section could house both the Euros and Olympics. ...

Re: Forum glitches

The forum software has now been upgraded and I'm able to get back in to the admin control panel (was having problems before). Hopefully things should start to straighten themselves out now. Apologies again for any inconvenience. It's not like it hasn't been a headache for myself either.

Forum glitches

Just to let you know, the forum has been upgraded to the latest version of phpbb, but in doing so there were a few minor glitches which has led to some problems logging in for some of you. As a fix, try clearing the cookies in your browser, and that should hopefully rectify the problem. Meanwhile, I...

Re: Read It In The News 2012

While this thread is still in its infancy, may I request that we nip it in the bud and that any newsworthy pieces be assigned their own topic? Long threads spanning several pages are just not very user-friendly and several different discussions can all be going on at once, whereas if those discussio...

No plans for a marathon just yet. Her immediate aim is to try to qualify for the Olympics in either the 5000m or 10,000m.

The fact they moved up so much on the final lap shows that they didn't go off hard enough and left themselves with too much to do. Andy Vernon admits as much in this week's AW.

Want to hear an incredible stat? If Aldershot, Farnham & District had been entered as a separate nation at the past seven editions of the European Cross-Country Champs, this is what the overall combined medals table would look like (based on individual medals only): https://p.twimg.com/AgstOS_CA...

Then she disappeared for a bit (due to injury, I presume) but she is now training with Mick Woods has made a phenomenal come...

Are Olympic bans worthwhile?

For years the BOA had one rule for drug cheats, while most other Olympic committees went by another. Then the IOC brought in their rule whereby athletes who had served a doping suspension were forbidden from competing at the next Olympics. But now LaShawn Merritt has challenged that rule and had his...

Is it just me or was Paula talking with a slightly French-tinged accent? I hadn't noticed it before but I like it! I think it's that thing whereby you pick up on the accent of the person you're talking to. My dad does it when he speaks to his Irish relatives - he starts talking with a slight Irish ...
