Time to clear the decks and get independent funding for an independent coaches association , charged with doing what Pete s suggests...simples, this way there can be no political interference destroying coach education again in order to protect ego's and power bases and incomes. Right off you go, g...
. Core strength, fundamental movement skills and the other theoretical nonsense beloved of some sections of our sport have no place here. There isn't the need and there isn't the time. Wilf Paish taught me the truth of this in many different ways and anyone who would want to take issue with his poi...
Pig (not meant in a derogatory way, lol) he failed 1 as a junior and 2 as a senior. As for DC, he admitted his wrong doing, he did his time, repented and has helped UKA, IAAF and WADA through his book to improve their detection. His ban was much longer than most and he suffered more in terms of sele...
Every time I look at him on a track it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. How is it possible that someone can fail 3 drugs tests and still be in the sport?
I think that's Jeter's season over. The first sign of the injury for me was 10m before she hobbled. Then looking on the action replay made it more obvious - there was no power coming off the blocks! Kirani James is a freak! 44.02 this early on the international circuit and then walks off as if it wa...
According to this article it was Coleman who gave that commentary on White Lightening: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2002/oct/06/sixnations2008.features. On the otherhand, Wikipedia say it's a myth and it was Pickering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Coleman#Folklore But as it doesn't cite a ...
Interesting interview in this weeks Athletics Weekly on Maz; it appears Maz has long had a torn Piriformis muscle as the source of her problems, giving her back and hamstring problems for the past 5 years and part of the reason she loses power in the latter stages of races (though she doesn't deny ...
At the end of the 0930 news/sport headlines on Radio 5live they mentioned that UKA press conference is at 1100 and it will be about Erikksson's resignation
When the talking heads are doing their thing on BBC 1, 2 and Three I often turn to my computer to watch a stream of the IAAF feed. I can assure you that both Cram and Hutchings do not do commentary in French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Romanian or Dutch (the streams that are often shown online) at th...
If the red button doesn't show up on the screen still press the button - that's what I did on Friday. As for those complaining about not showing the earlier field events what do they want the BBC to do? Show up with their own cameras? The red button programme is the official IAAF broadcast, all the ...
Pig I had predicted before the nations had their trials for London that the women's 100m hurdles would be the most contested event and I was proved more than right - it was a bloodbath. Some of the top names from both the America AND Canada didn't even make it in to their national trials finals. Ame...
As long as she's fit, that's all that matters Mump, Did you and your brother ever get to do an interview with Jodie. I've lost the link to the website where you posted the interviews with Cathy F et al. Has Jodie started at University anywhere? It's frustrating to see the US sprinters who were her ...
Furthermore his observation of the young African distance runners was imo spot on. They have to learn that running fast in events like DL are different to running for championship medals.
eldanielfire You are spot on. Cram's obsession with pacemakers, splits and times has been a growing trend and his mean spirited criticisms of almost any performance which doesn't come up to his lofty (and unrealistic) expectations is becoming tedious. Perhaps it reflects a general lack of homework,...
Wow! so many hungry seagulls following the Jack Green trawler! Here, have a sardine! Could it be that Jack Green has had a very good winter of training and is carrying so much pace and strength that he is getting to the sticks too early? Sometimes it is not the way you hurdle but the pace that you r...
A wry smile as I read these posts ; under earlier names I made a number of posts about the absurd number of injured British athletes, as far back as four/five years ago and all I ever heard from certain posters who should have known better was that my points were not valid cos all countries especia...
Bevone In the months after Beijing you and I had a conversation about how Collins et al had instigated a procedure of body to weight ratio that decimated the women's squad to such an extent that all of our sprinters with the exception of Sarah Claxton had long term injuries. And she just about made ...
The political aspect is always there. Look at how people at the top were angling for the position of head of UK Sport. Even you were ousted out of a successful position due to politics.
However it is a new broom going through the halls of UKA perhaps it can do better. And I genuinely hope so.
