Ah Kermit, I think you and I live in different worlds. In my world of midweek business travelling I see hotel prices more expensive Sunday to Thursday, but I do not see all hotels and B&Bs in the country. Whilst coaches may take the time off work, what if they have an athlete competing most of t...

I think the English championships should be done over the period of a week across all levels. I also think that the same should be done with UKA Championships. The savings made will be immense, the competition level will increase and the calender will be open to more competitions such as Internatio...

Stats, results, comments, speculation, hopes and dreams on athletics - yes. Bickering, insults, sniping, attacking - no. It's getting to the stage where finding a decent athletics forum is an impossibility. I can no longer filter out the egos and sniping on this forum which is very disappointing as ...

Many of these guys never take relays seriously, until an Olympic medal depends on it, and never really learn how to change a baton under pressure conditions as a result. Go to a US college and then you learn to. Was it possible that none of the USA 4x100m teams have been through the collegiate syst...

BAL Cup Semifinal

Has anyone looked at the results? A competition that used to be the highlight of the calendar is, well, words really fail me! Results are here In some cases there weren't many teams in some of the semis (4 in Gateshead) and in some a full team of athletes wasn't fielded. Is the new format unworkable...

If that's the case, I guess there are some athletes whose events won't be in the Cup this year. :(

Isn't it a bit early in the season to be throwing? Or do you think this is part of a double period(?) training plan and used to check on progress?

Still an absolutely fantastic distance. :D

Michaelw, where am I treating volunteers with contempt?

I do not expect the same level of service from volunteers as I do from paid staff. If I expected it to be the other way around, then you would have a point.

I am not going to comment on whether the rules are right or wrong.

When Dwain Chambers was taking drugs, it was a life ban from the Olympics if you get caught. Therefore, stop complaining and get on with your life.

I wish people would learn to take their punishment and stop whining. There is too much of that in society. Boo hoo, I have been badly done by. I cannot abide people going to court to get what they see is what they deserve. If there is a set of rules in place, then abide by these and shut up.

Gatlin had his second chance after he failed a drugs test at a junior competition. He, more than anyone else, should have known the score.

I would agree that is possible as sports centre managers are one of the groups the police would inform. However, I don't think that the people who are informed have the authority to release the name to others.

I've had a bit of a look around the internet and whilst the placement of someone on the sex offender's register (or Violent and Sex Offender's Register) is, in most cases, a matter of public record; it is not possible for the general public to access this register as it appears to be restricted to t...

I had understood that although someone was on the sex offenders register their name was not available to the general public.
Am I mistaken?

I thought one of the benefits / purposes of OCWK was to show these athletes some of the realities of top class athletics. For instance, the constant travel and lost luggage was one that was tackled early on. I also think they will benefit from seeing and understanding just how smart and intense the ...

If she was caught back in her High School Days why has she not been given a lifetime ban? Wasn't Gatlin given a lifetime ban for a second offence (albeit reduced to 8 years for dobbing someone in?)
Or is that just some associations that do this?
