Re: Coach Education Criticised

Having been rejected from being on the national coach development programme and being a local coach mentor despite coaching athletes from u13 through to international level and countless national regional and local champions... I have no comment on the matter.

Re: Eriksson rumuored to quit?

Do we need coaches at the top or do we need a team of people who can analyse the performance of the athletes and coaches around the country and look to support them to help them develop!? If the coaches in the UK get athletes to a certain level then the athletes are poached to work with foreign coac...

Re: Outdoor Results 2013

I don't know that we don't have the right coaches in the UK Bevone but an issue with the right athletes with the wrong coaches. Its pure luck if a super talented athlete falls at the door of the rright coach for them. I'm sure there will have been many very talented throwers who through no fault of ...

Re: Javelin: Mervyn Luckwell 81.05m!!

He had surgery on a shoulder injury last year and, I guess has been getting back on it. Question is... How much more will he progress next year. For those who actually know Merv, he is an absolute beast of a thrower. He generates so much power which has been erratic in the past but now seems to be m...

RIP Mel Batty

A blast from my past was brought up recently when I heard that Mel Batty was seriously ill in hospital. It has now come to my attention that he has died.

Mel was a friend of my parents back in the late 70s and 80s.
Mel was the 10miles WR holder and coach to Eamon Martin

RIP

Re: European U20 Championships

Kike was 17th in her first ever international qualifying with a throw of 48.37m which was her 2nd best throw ever. As a coach I am pleased with her. Our aim was to make it to the European juniors and not embarrass ourselves. I think to beat 5 people who were ranked above her is a good achievement. W...

Re: Lawrence Okoye New British record

Just because someone is on the NCDP doesn't mean they aren't doing their own thing. People may just be keeping up appearances. How many people on the NCDP have produced something since being on it when they hadn't before... Is it the case that these people have been producing the goods before this w...

I will await the 'eye of the tiger' Looks like the European Juniors will be a good competition. Three GB gi...
