Well, she has broken through and is a consistent 4.70 jumper, which is a huge progression. Still, neither her nor Katie Byres matched their indoor form outdoors this year. Mind you, 4.87, World Indoor Bronze, 6th in your first Olympics at age 20/21 is pretty impressive. The experiments with the tall...
Wouldn't all this energy spent bitching from the sidelines be better spent put to more productive use? Please prove to us Mike, that you can coach a thrower to a global medal without any funding.
I agree that we the public don't have any right to know the ins and outs of Idowu's injury problems or lack of them. However, I do think the BOA and UKA (including Idowu's coach!) have a right to know what's going on. Athletes do have a responsibility to let team managers know what's going on. I thi...
Selsousi (Morocco) - world indoor silver medalist - furosemide. 2nd failure after being caught with EPO in 2009. http://www.lequipe.fr/Athletisme/Actualites/Selsouli-privee-de-jeux/300443 The doping cases just keep on coming... Oh good! Just a Turk and a couple of Russians to catch and we are in wi...
Haven't seen the official results from Stettin (Can't spell the Polish name), but yep, Steve Lewis has confirmed it on Twitter. :D I'm really happy for him. He's been very close to 5.80 on a couple of occasions this year, indoors and out so it's not a surprise. Onwards and upwards indeed! Third UK r...
I wonder if, as Talbot's in the relay, there's a way he can be added to the individual 200m? Probably not, but I wish there were. He's definitely in better form than Malcolm or Ellington.
Bet it started in the USA. Actually it was first used in this context in 17th century France, with the word "gaie". ;) It started being used as a codeword in the 1920s/30s. Mind you, "naff" was what British men used to use to refer to straight men, so maybe fair's fair! It...
Yep Dai has a pretty much spot on 2 second differential from his flat PB to his hurdles PB. The best hurdlers have a 1.5 second differential. I'd expect a 45.3-45.5 leg from Dai. Good enough for the heats but not the final.
Whoever it was made the swipe at Ennis clearly hasn't seen Williamson & MLF. When Heat One of the 100m came on it genuinely looked to me like a fat man had wandered onto the track and set up his blocks in lane 1. I swear there was a lot less of him when he was running 10.0? Far be it from me to...
Never mind getting the baton round our sprinters are just plain SLOW actually more than that, Old, Fat and Slow. I don't mind Christian staying in but the others should be: Gemeli Dasalou Talbot maybe Ellington I agree with that, but Talbot was much quicker than Ellington at CP. Whoever it was made...
I saw the original tweet. It was said with humour and in jest. As people say, it's part of the lingo that so many people use. As a fully paid-up gayer I don't find it offensive as such, just annoying. You would too if a key part of your identity was being used to describe something as weird/lame. De...
Well, Phillips just tweeted a vid of him doing a squats exercise for what it's worth. I appreciate the clash of personalities issue, but there is such a thing as professionalism. If he weren't a medal hope I'd take him off funding as he clearly doesn't want to be part of the system. Funding rightly ...
Did Irozuru appeal? Yes she did but i'm assuming that her one A and nothing else even approaching a B, 3rd at trials and poor showing at Euros didn't impress. I just don't see what is achieved by leaving someone like her off the team :( The only thing I can see is the message that you have to be co...
I don't get it - UKA have funded sprinters, provided medical support, warm weather training, good facilities, etc. Short of hiring coaches and flat out forcing athletes to work with them, I'm not entirely sure what more people want from a governing body. These are our most supported sprinters in his...

Hannah England is a former OCWK athlete and she was selected despite being out with injury for a month. As are Charlotte Purdue, Emma Jackson, Emma Pallant, Stacey Smith, Stevie Stockton, Laura Weightman, Mitch Goose, Ross Millington and Ricky Stevenson. And who was it who kept telling us that Brit...
In Merv's case he has been a lot more consistent over the past year or two. His championship record is against him as well as injury. But he's thrown over 80m a few times, including at the Olympic stadium itself in May at the BUCS. But in general, I agree. Can't see why you wouldn't pick Warburton, ...

UKA's only using the IAAF A & B standards this year (except for the marathon).
The men's LJ standard is stupidly high though. 8.15 or 8.10 would be much more reasonable in a year where no one's gone over 8.40 (bar some big fouls by Bayer and Watt).
Ok, I'd love Jade Nicholls to be selected. She threw 60.51 in LaJolla and 59.60 in Walnut in April. Both great throwing venues. She threw 57.51 at Bedford on 10 June, another good throwing venue. However, at the trials she threw 52.21 and in Helsinki she threw 51.75. What happened in those 2 weeks? ...
Yep - Lynsey's had a good season, and no offence to her, but I would pick Okoro & Jackson over her any day on this season's form, especially if Jackson's fit. I wonder if the BOA would overturn this on appeal? I can see why people support Sharp, but the decision makes no sense to me.
