Re: UKA are great! Woo!

Jeremy You merged 2 posts the first I was far from stunned into silence I on replied to it. The second I took as an end to the exchange of views, as I do not belive that having the last word is indicative of who is right or wrong. However I note your entirely consistent response is to repost other p...

Re: UKA are great! Woo!

Geoff, we speak to different peple in different parts of the country it would seem, but what makes you think that other governing bodies are better? Yes on individual point everyone will disagree with the NGB, be bloody odd if that wasn't the case, it's a wide sport, but overall it is simply the cas...

Re: UKA are great! Woo!

Geoff, if the award was about how many medals a team won then maybe some fo teh sports you mention are up there, but it's about sport governance, and despite a very vocal politically motivated money grabbing minority most people are quite happy in athletics.

Re: UKA are great! Woo!

Who are you referring to, yourself with regard to ABAC and John Bicourt no doubt. Yes if enough clubs got together it would change things, but most clubs are not run by short sighted, greedy old men who want to be paid to run the sport (into the ground).

Re: UKA are great! Woo!

No, it's not. The IAAF say there must bea single NGB to deal with, adn that they have responsibility for regulating the spotr. So UKA are more akin to a regulator. regulators are centrally fudned bodies, and there is not a choice as to who regulates you. In financial services you are under the FSA y...

Re: Cwmbran Stadium has licence suspended by UK Athletics

So basically the story is that UKA removed the license, because Torfaen council haven't serviced it. The coment you added was was pointless, but it is interesting that atheltics, along with so many other services is having a hard time in the economic limate. Of course in France the legal obligation ...

Re: ian stewart goes

Makes sense, they took someone's word for something, printed a story, then when they checked the facts found out their source may not be entirely reliable, so edited it. Sounds like the Mail, fact check after publishing.

Re: ian stewart goes

Don't see where the Mail says he was "escorted off the premises" I know Bicourt says he was, but seems unlikely given he knew he was going.

Re: THE 80s GOLDEN YEARS

Are we talking abouthte 1980's? I can only find Roger Black winnning European and Commonwealth Gold 1986 and Phil Brown's Bronze in teh COmmonwealths ( in 46.80) so it doesn't really look like we had "regular" medals. I do note that Rooney and Williams won European Silver and Bronze in 201...

Re: England Athletics Registration fee rises 400%

London pay a one off fee, not a £2 per unaffiliated athlete charge. The thing is it is not as straight ofrward as ARC are cheaper, the £2 charges can easily add up for athletes, and not registering can become a false economy for those who frequently race. If you (generic not you personally) are goin...

Re: England Athletics Registration fee rises 400%

Righttovote

Then take away the £2 unaffiliated levy that non-licensed athteltes pay at races, and voila, it costs runners who do more than 5 races a year more money, not less.

Your "true example" falls down for any runner who runs 5 or more EA licensed events a year.

Re: ABAC literally unbelievable

On another note, it's odd to find yourself being lectured on the NATYAL and NJAL by officials from clubs that enter neither of these competitions.

ABAC literally unbelievable

ABAC officers have finally admitted what we all knew to be true already, the evidenee they present is biased, and it is deliberate. Despite persistent claims to be an open, honest and transparent organisation John Bicourt admitted thie week that the ABAC survey of clubs regarding the proposed change...

Re: Women's 4x100

Carthorse brigade? Seriously why the hatred? Let's examine that though. Obviously if they are a carthorse brigade then they will be slower than previous years for UK. So we will have loads of years where our third fastest runner was way ahead of 11.31. No wait a second the GBR athletics site shows t...

Re: Athletics placings table

Interesting, you have compared the mid point of the 4 year cylce to teh end point. How about the mid point of this cycle to the mid point of the last one. 2006, 16 athetles in the top 20. Looks like things are improving. Of course the standard response to obvious improvements are that they are not g...

Re: Armstrong era cycling

Ok, Armstrong was charged, there would be a trial, except he has chosen not to contest the charges. So no trial, but found guilty. That's the way it is with drugs tribunals, no contest = guilty verdict. HE chose not to have the trial. As for the evidence, well they can't release it there are two oth...

Re: Will CVC really go now?...

Kermit I imagine that partly the answer is down to the same reason as why crime appears to be on the rise if you judge by convictions, the best medical staff are aslo the best at diagnosing early. Who knows how many athletes prior to the medical back up competed on undiagnosed injuries which shorten...

Re: Will CVC really go now?...

Bev, Ok, I have been listenign but I don't think the model is practical. If you are saying you don't need coaches at each centre, then you get eh complaints that events are being ignored. If you only employ coaches whilst the athletes are there then you won't get het coaches, who wants to work at a ...

Re: Will CVC really go now?...

What would you pay for from the £200k? How many coaches (if all events are to be covered without people moaning about the quality of the paid coach eg HJ coach coaching PV or that some events are being ignored eg no paid PV coach) woudl you pay for? How much physio/doctor support? How much paying fo...

Re: Lausanne Diamond 2012

MysteryBrick wrote:How many British records does that make this year? I'm sure someone posted a list somewhere but I can't for the life of me find it.

So far I think it's Mens DT, HJ, LJ, PV and Women's PV, HT, LJ, 100mh, Hept, s/c, JT

Only Olympic events and only overall included, a mere 11 events.

Re: Will CVC really go now?...

Bev, how would the centres work? Would you man it with paid coaches for each event group, even if he athletes in that group were part time and not there during the normal working day, or if the quality of the squad for that area was particularly poor? Or would you expect unpaid volunteers to travel ...

A couple of other very good British performances. Steve Lewis 3rd on countback itn eh Vault, with 5.80m. Failed next height so skipped to 5.92m, can't fault his ambition. Perri Shakes-Drayton 53.83, to show that London was a bad day at teh office adn that really she is a sub 54 400mh. Not bad at all...
