If Sanya's race looked uneven that's because it's meant to! The Clyde Hart school of running the 400m is to sprint with 100% effort for the first 50m-70 of the race and then relax to 200m; hit it hard between 200 and 300m and stay relaxing coming home. The theory is that the energy expended over the...

Re Isa Philips, it didn't help that he tore through the first 200m way too fast. Being in lane 6, he probably panicked about the guys inside him. I don't think I've seen the first 5 flights run that fast before! Superb running by David Greene. Should be a great final and let's hope he doesn't make t...

In 1996 or 1997 (or around there) a late season meet (I think it was Berlin) had a 4x100 where Frankie Fredricks, Donovan Bailey, Michael Johnson and Linford Christie ran as a team. I don't recall the order (or the time!). I don't think it was sub 38.2 though...

Tim Benjamin was leading the 400m by 2 or 3 meters when he pulled up at about 330m. The winner (Rennie Quow) ran 45.41 so there's a good chance TB was on his way to a low 45. Hopefully his injury isn't serious.

Highlights of the meeting:

To be fair to the commentators (the guys from flotrack), they videoed every race and with an early season meet, lots of withdrawals and without heat sheets, it is a thankless task. Also, they are providing video that we wouldn't otherwise get to see.

In support of VS3/Smoke's post...

... this from today's Jamaica Gleaner: Meanwhile, (Asafa) Powell said his main focus this season is to work on his strength. "I am just working to get stronger so I can go through the four rounds at the World Championships, so when I get to the final round ... it feels like it's the first round...

A few 400s may be good for them, but even a few more 200s would be helpful. Chambers has a decent 200m PB, but the same can't be said for Pickering, Edgar or Williamson.
